Great 3-season

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 Ultra Light Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 Ultra Light Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 May 2, 2011

My buddies and I go out a lot during the snow season. We'd always used 3-season tents without any issues. I bought this one because of the weight/space ratio. I used it this season and really liked it until it started raining, then snowing. The wet snow really started sagging this tent very quickly. I was a bit nervous that it might break during the night, but luckily it stopped snowing before lights out, and didn't return until the next day.

I ended up returning this for a Black Diamond Eldorado, which is more money for sure, but will better suit me over the years for my purposes. I was very happy with the tent, which comes with a pole splint for those concerned with other reviews, but it didn't suit my specific needs.

If you're not planning any winter trips with potentially very wet snow, you should be good with this tent. Plus, it'll do very nicely in the summer when you don't need the fly.

Setup was great, and I LOVED the one-pole design. I'd never had a tent so easy to setup, although the fly pole made me a bit nervous with how tight it was...but not that nervous.

Not very slick

Backcountry.com Long Handled Spoon

Backcountry.com Long Handled Spoon

Rating for this product: 3 May 2, 2011

I've used this spoon for two seasons now, and the length is great for the bagged meals, which is really all I eat. However, the spoon has a bit of a texture to it. Every time I go out I tell myself to get a new spoon because I hate the feel of using it. It's kinda like the fingernails on the chalkboard feel to me. If I could find a spoon of this length that was smooth, I'd grab it. I think I just need to look a little harder.

The North Face Tundra Sleepingbag: -20 Degree Climashield Neo

November 19, 2009

This bag has been labeled as a discontinued color for months now. I've talked to a TNF rep, and they say that this color has not been discontinued. Backcountry says that this isn't last year's model, so what's up with the discontinued colors label? There have been a few sales on TNF bags in the last several months, but this one is always left off, possibly due to this label. What's the deal with the discontinued colors label? I think it needs to be corrected.

MSR XGK EX Multi-Fuel Stove

May 20, 2009

I currently have a Jetboil system, but it doens't work too well in the extreme cold, so I'm considering this. I'd rather not purchase a pot too if it isn't needed. Do you see any issues using this stove with the Jetboil cup? Will the flame come up and around and burn the neoprene?

Do you need a match to light this? Or can you easily light it with a spark from a flint?

MSR XGK EX Multi-Fuel Stove

May 11, 2009

How quickly does it burn through fuel? I'm a mountain house guy, so about 2 cups water per meal for me; maybe double considering drink. How many boils would you expect to get before needing to refuel? How much fuel does it take to fill it?
