Marmots best shell

Marmot Troll Wall Jacket - Men's

Marmot Troll Wall Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2011

Great fit, leaves plenty of room for layering...unlike some shells. The fabric is also a really heavy duty version of the Pro Shell, which is nice if your using this for skiing or climbing. I love how burly this jackets front zipper is, along with the flap that covers it.(really keeps the cold out) The neck is also nice and high so you can tuck your face up to your goggles...when your standing still in cold/windy conditions.
Its very similar in fit to the Exum....while it definitely is heavier duty in regards to the fabric, and also comes with a powder skirt which is essential for those deep days.
All in all I would say this is the best shell Marmot has to offer....and would have no problem saying it is on par with the best out there today. (Arteryx, Westcomb, and Peak Performance)

Uncommfy and drafty

The North Face Free Thinker Pant - Men's

The North Face Free Thinker Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 March 4, 2010

Really wanted to like these pants......but they kept riding up my crotch.....really high inseam. The material is really tough for 3 layer gortex and on paper they look like the perfect bib, but the uncomfortable inseam and drafty design will leave you irritated and cold. I'd pass on these if your going to use these for skiing and have decent sized thighs, and like not freezing your butt off on the lift. ;(

Incredible Jacket!

Mountain Hardwear Terra Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Terra Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 30, 2009

When I first received this jacket I was pretty skeptical on how it was going to perform, but boy was I wrong! This jacket is really tough. Completely waterproof, windproof and breathes better than any shell I owned. Good athletic fit. (might be snug for some with heavy layers....but works for the better if you got a pack on). If I plan on doing a lot of work to get to the top of a peak no matter the weather....this is my jacket of choice.

Excellent pants for touring

Marmot Randonnee Pant - Men's

Marmot Randonnee Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 7, 2009

Finally decided to take the plunge and buy a set of lite shells for the BC...these certainly do not disappoint. The fit is very good, and the pants are very durable. The knee pads are a big plus, especially for touring when you frequently take a knee to strap your skis on the pack or take gear out.
Only gripe is they seem to have a rather long inseam. Not very noticeable when skiing...but gators are definitely advised if you plan on climbing with crampons.
