March 10, 2011

Tromping through the unexpected AZ snow to find a sunset suitable lake perch, my feet remained desert dry.

My current top layer

Sierra Designs Vapor Hoody Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 28, 2011

I like mine a lot. I got a lot of use out of it during the week on the trails in CO this year.
It compresses well enough to stuff into the top of an already full pack.
I wanted a non-insulated one for home in Arizona. Works well for blocking wind.
Did well in some steady rain. When it's really pouring for a longer stint, I put my packable waterproof jacket over it.
Great deal.

Great casual shoes

Patagonia Footwear Whino Lace Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2011

These are great for in town stuff, even longer park walks.
And they get compliments so that's a bonus.

Downsizing worked best for me. I'm usually a 12 but in these, 11 is perfect.

Blue color is off. Still a great shirt.

Stoic Breathe T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Breathe T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 27, 2011

Regarding the Deep/Shale actually being a teal color... that is true. It's not at all blue like pictured. I did a girl test and it's apparently still a good color on me so I keeps it.
I really like Stoic's Breathe gear from head to toe. Trumps their Merino 150 every time. Get the color you want but still get the shirt.
175lbs at 6'3" and the large fits perfect even in the arms.

Too thin

Stoic Merino Crew - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino Crew - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 May 19, 2011

Kinda bummed. First time out with it and after hiking 4mi, it developed holes from contact with my belt buckle. This shirt wasn't as soft as I'd thought either. I much prefer my Stoic Breathe 90 T for comfortability, faster drying, and lightweight without feeling like I'm wearing a delicate napkin.

My everyday knife

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

Rating for this product: 5 April 13, 2011

Lightning fast on the open.
I was impressed with how fast and well it sharpened with only a few passes on my diamond stone.
The zytel handle is great because of the reduction in weight. I've never thought it inferior and my other knife-welding friends agree.
I had read the safety can become inadvertently locked sometimes in your pocket and yes it's happened with mine. That would be a bad thing if it was locked when you really needed it open direct from pocket pull. This is the only con I have witnessed and I may jimmy mine to disable the safety feature.

Light, windproof, not full ear coverage

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Fleece Hat

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Fleece Hat

Rating for this product: 4 April 13, 2011

I wanted to like this in a five star way. The fleece feels awesome with no itchies. Great lightweight item for the pack. I wish you could pull it down further because even though it fits well, it leaves too much exposed and half my ears stays cold when it's really windy out.
