Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 2, 2012

This jacket is well constructed of quality material. I was somewhat disturbed to put the jacket on for the first time. It fit very snug. I'm 6' tall 190 pounds the large is tight across the shoulders and chest. The sleeve openings are also tight and nonadjustable. The torso length seems fine. I've worn the piece in temperature from 50-20 degrees F. It is not good at the colder end of that spectrum unless you are active then it is decent. The only draw back is it doesn't breath well enough if too active, The jacket does have good wind resistance and decent water resistance. I have yet to wear it as an insulating layer. This may be the best use for it.

Dakota Grizzly Sawyer Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Dakota Grizzly Sawyer Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 6, 2011

Great shirt! The material is strong and durable, and quick drying. Sweat wicks away and evaporates quickly. The chest pocket configuration is nice. The right side has adeep zippered main pocket with a divided outer pocket. The left is one main pocket and a half pocket with a bellow. There is also a small pocket on the left sleeve. All Three have hook and loop fastened flaps. The back of the shirt has a meshed lined vent that helps air circulate.

Every day jacket

The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Men's

The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 15, 2011

I've been a fan of North Face for quite a while now, and the Apex Bionic jacket is one of my favorite everyday-wear products. It's comfortable, warm (in cool to cold weather), water resistant,(not waterproof) ,blocks the wind and looks good. It cleans up pretty easily, too, and is very well constructed.

I think of it as a slightly-overpriced casual-wear jacket.
My only complaints would be the lack of interior pockets. Also, the lining tends to stick to garments worn under it, so depending on what I'm wearing, the sleeves get pushed up when I'm putting the jacket on.

Overall, it's a great everyday jacket.

Everyday Pants

Columbia Utilizer II Pant - Men's

Columbia Utilizer II Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 4, 2011

These pants fit the bill for hiking, backpacking, and everyday use. The material is thicker, more durable, and quieter than other hikers. I have trouble with sizing but these are cut just right. Plenty of room for ease of movement without being to baggy.

ATV for the Feet

Salomon XT Wings 2 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Salomon XT Wings 2 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 10, 2010

A flexible and supportive shoe with ample cushioning. They are light, comfortable and breathe well. The forefoot is just thin enough to feel the trail and may let an occasional stinger through. For me they fit true to size. I typically wear Asics and made the transition without any issues. Overall they have a similar ride, but this is a slightly beefier shoe. They have a soft upper that is more supportive than the Asics The lacing system works fine and is highly adjustable allowing a semi-customizable fit. It has little benefit over traditional lacing in my book, but it works. The out sole has performed well on wet rocky Pennsylvania trails.

The North Face TKA 100 Glacier 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 10, 2010

Seems tight and the sleeves are short. Comfortable as every fleece I've ever worn. Thin, lightweight and good insulating properties. This fleece is nothing special it is the same as all other micros. I've been a fan of TNF products for years but this one is over priced even at closeout pricing.

good pants

The North Face Momentum Tight - Men's

The North Face Momentum Tight - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 9, 2010

These pants are a good fit for the average type male. I am 6' 200 lbs. I ordered the large and they have a very comfortable fit. I wanted something for X-C skiing in colder temps and they fit the bill. The fit is athletic or fitted rather than a tight compression fit. I've even went for a twenty mile bike ride with them in 28 F degree temp. Very warm and flex with my every movement. Not as aerodynamic as tights though. I feel these pants would retain warmth even if the temperatures dropped to the single digits as long as one was active. The one downside.....no pockets.

Mountain Hardwear Icestone Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Icestone Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 1, 2010

I really like this jacket for cross Country skiing. It is a great shell, light rain and snow will bead and roll off. Breaths better than other soft shells I own.I thought the thumb holes would be a problem but I have learned to really appreciate the way they hold the inner sleeve and keep the cold and snow out of the sleeve. This shell is a good wind blocker. I have worn it X-C skiing in temperatures into the mid teens with wind of up to 20 mph with only a good wicking base layer. I always feel like I'm under dressed when I start but work hard enough to keep warm. This jacket is very flexible making it quite comfortable.

This shirt is the best technical shirt I've tried yet.Excellent wicking abilities. Good temperature control. Extremely comfortable. I've worn on several runs ranging from 2 to 9 miles in length in temperatures averaging 25 degrees F. Twice cross country skiing for three hour each time.Temps in the teens. The only con is price, but most quality shirts are in this price range.

Marmot Original DriClime Windshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2007

I purchased tis shirt/jack as a shell for running in cool temps (30-40) it is much too warm for these temps. Although it is a good walking shell for these temperatures. I like the length of the hem. The fit is very comfortable. Sheds precip well.
