Love it, but mildew...

Laken Prisma Bottle w/Sport Top - 1L

Laken Prisma Bottle w/Sport Top - 1L

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2009

I love this bottle, as it is my first really, really cool bottle that I actually paid for. It is light, has a cool top, and the inside has a really cool coating that is supposed to help with something...

However, my one gripe is the mildew smell that develops. After half a day, my water has a funny smell to it. I think it may be due to the sport cap. My solution is to not use the sport cap. I just unscrew the whole thing and drink it like a canteen.

But overall, I love it. COnstruction is amazing. This thing could withstand a drop off the side of the mountain.

Ruffwear Palisades Pack II

Ruffwear Palisades Pack II

Rating for this product: 4 April 23, 2009

Just got the pack, and I am very impressed with the build quality and thoughtful design. I had an ollydog pack before and it chaffed, built up a lot of static, and fit a bit funny. This pack fits great. The ability to remove the heavy parts from the actual harness helps a lot. If the bladders are not well balanced, it does seem like my dog has a tough time with it. One complaint so far is that the pack is much, much too heavy if it is completely filled. Currently, I only have it filled to about 1/5 of its capacity. My dog definitly tires quickly with it on.

Oh yeah, I bought a medium pack for my 85lb rottweiler.

Some cons, I suppose the weight is one, the difficulty in filling the water bladders is another, and the size of the packs is the last one. Overall, a nice product for the sale price. Great deal.

Ruffwear Palisades Pack II

April 23, 2009

There are 2 mylar bladders that are folded up. They "slide" into 2 zippered pockets on each side. The problem I have faced is that the opening is very small. So, what I do is first put the bladders into the pockets, then open up the rubber cap. I fill it slowly, allowing it time to expand and fill the pocket. The caps do not screw/unscrew, but are popped on and off. There is a lever on the cap that allows you to dispense the water. Hope that helps!

A bit dissapointed...

Nite Ize Nite Dawg LED Light-Up Dog Collar

Nite Ize Nite Dawg LED Light-Up Dog Collar

Rating for this product: 3 April 23, 2009

After reading all the raving reviews, I went ahead and bought this collar in a large size since my dog was right on the border between med and large. The collar is definitly very big.

My main complaint is that the collar is not quite as bright as I thought it would be. There is a single LED that shoots into a clear, rubber strip, thus illuminating the red strip (like a fiber optic). The major problem was that with the large size, the LED is not quite strong enough to light up the whole rubber strip. I ended up cutting off half of the rubber, so only half of the collar is actually lit up.

Other than that, a pretty nice safety feature for any dog that plays in the dark. I'd say, it does its job, but I can dream up a more spectacular product using multiple LEDs.
