The North Face Rucky Chucky GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 17, 2009

This is a great all around shoe. It is lightweight yet holds together nicely and firmly when traversing rocky, root infested trails. Running through water/mud is no problem as they dry quickly, making them a great shoe for the warmer months of the year. I would say thicker socks are required for cold weather running, as their quick drying capabilities cause them to be less insulated than other shoes I've purchased. The tread is sufficient for everything I've put it against - standard sized knobs/cleats on the bottom make them comfortable on the flats AND proficient on mildly treacherous terrain. The toe box is wide (definitely a plus in my book!), so if you have a narrow foot you may want to use thick socks while running. Also, I felt these were not quite true to size - if wearing thick socks (sorry to be redundant about the socks) then you will most likely not notice this difference. Conversely, if wearing thin, road running socks you might find your foot slips a bit too much - a 1/2 size down should be considered for these individuals. This is the first pair of North Face shoes I've owned and could not be more pleased - definitely a good purchase an a solid deal on this site. Will look to buy again (or something similar) when mine wear down. Happy trails!
