Fastest search time on the market in tests, longer range than the BCA Tracker 2. Had the 2007 for several years and I outperform my buddies in practice searches.

Don't take my word for it, see the 33 reviews on the 2007 model at the bottom of this page.

Shocked to see this one didn't have reviews

best pad out there

NEMO Equipment Inc. Astro Air & Pillowtop

NEMO Equipment Inc. Astro Air & Pillowtop

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2011

this thing is sweet. removable outer pad is great for car camping and then you just take the inflatable part for backpacking. a bit of an effort to inflate but so worth it because this is the most comfortable outdoor sleeping experience i've had in 700 nights out

Arc'teryx Naos 85 Backpack - 5004-5370cu in

Arc'teryx Naos 85 Backpack - 5004-5370cu in

Rating for this product: 2 October 21, 2011

(1) suspension sucks: my hips got super bruised by these and I've spent 100s of days backpacking. the suspension is really pretty poor, i don't really know why but it didn't work. I have the Muira for climbing and love that pack.
(2) outside pockets suck: the pockets are part of the total structure so when you pack the main pocket tight the outside pockets are really difficult to get stuff in and out of
(3) no water bottle pockets: there is no easy access pocket on the side for hat, water bottle, anything. i use a hat to temp control and there is absolutely no way to store it with this pack

super strong construction, legitimately waterproof, high quality.

I wanted to fall in love - but no dice

best climbing pants ever

prAna Nemesis Knicker - Men's

prAna Nemesis Knicker - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2011

after climbing in them the first time I went to backcountry.com and bought another pair. they are just that awesome. flexible and strong for indian creek chimneys, good enough appearance to wear to the climbing gym and hit on girls (did i really write that here?), not too hot but super durable.

couldn't love them more

I hate it

Trango Cinch Belay Device

Trango Cinch Belay Device

Rating for this product: 1 October 21, 2011

I weight 175 lbs and if I have a 110 lbs girl belaying me this thing locks up like hell. then she pries open that lever and the rope comes shooting out - it is dangerous and for my poor belayer hard on her hands.

This is a lighter weight and far less functional gri-gri 2. Just buy the new grigri!

You kinda need it

Petzl Grigri 2 Belay Device

Petzl Grigri 2 Belay Device

Rating for this product: 4 October 21, 2011

It sucks, but the original gri-gri just doesn't work well with 9mm ropes and that is what most people use. I climb with random folks and never want someone belaying me on a 9.8mm rope with an old gri-gri. If i have a partner who I know and trust then the old gri-gri still seems to function on smaller ropes.

I wasn't happy to buy this and basically throw away a perfectly good gri-gri 1, but oh well.

Omega Pacific Link Cam

Omega Pacific Link Cam

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2011

love these for indian creek - you just can't know what piece you will need up high so this is it. I love these because i can take what i think i will need and then just clip in a yellow and green link cam and know i'm pretty well covered if i run out of a size

also great for anchors on multipitch. heavy, but well worth it. it is the last piece of gear i place on every trad route

long break-in time

Five Ten Copperhead Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Copperhead Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 3 October 21, 2011

I've struggled with this shoe because my toes need to get flat to go in a crack. when new, they are a tight fit for even a green camalot crack.

Still - the rubber all around is awesome for crack climbing - I bought these for indian creek and they are a much better long term solution than mocasyms which destroy your feet in a few days because there isn't much padding.

still, i use my mocs on anythings small and these for #2 camalot and larger cracks - i think once fully broken in might fit a red camalot fine

best cragging pack out there

Arc'teryx Miura 50 Backpack - 2746-3356cu in

Arc'teryx Miura 50 Backpack - 2746-3356cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2011

Awesome ability to zip down the sides and have your gear spread out - I shockingly use the gear loops and love them. camel back is way too tight, hard to fit more than 2 liters. very good suspension and fit - and adjustable. the rope can go on top or on the back because those loops move back and forth

love the large brain and front pocket. has to be the best cragging pack on the market - i've searched like crazy before buying this one.

holds a triple crag rack + lunch + 2L water + rope + jacket and doesn't hurt to carry. also works fine for sport climbing

Bad redesign, tight fit

Patagonia Merino 2 LW T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Patagonia Merino 2 LW T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 October 21, 2011

The old patagonia wool was awesome - thin, soft, flexible - though not durable

This is durable. Sizing is super tight for patagonia. I always wear a medium and this one was quite snug and I'm 6ft 175lbs - a relatively thin guy. lost a lot of the flex and not nearly as soft.

hopefully the old wool comes back!

Awesome - but big

Mountain Hardwear Pinnacle Stretch XT Gaiter

Mountain Hardwear Pinnacle Stretch XT Gaiter

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2011

These are fantastic but I initially got an XL for a size 11 shoe and that was way too big even though the sizing chart Mtn Hardwear gives suggests that size 10 is okay for an XL. They are also pretty long as the picture indicates, I'm not sure you need that much overlap with snow/rain pants. The fabric is awesome and they are really well made.

Great bag, great size

Mountainsmith Buttress Rolling Gear Bag - 7628 cu in

Mountainsmith Buttress Rolling Gear Bag - 7628 cu in

Rating for this product: 4 December 8, 2006

Huge pack, clearly high quality, softer and more flexible than the North Face. Rollers work well. Small outside pocket and small internal zip pockets are great for headlamps, books, etc.
