I've always been a big outdoors person, ever since I was a little kid. I'm getting more into hiking, camping, and backpacking now that I'm in college and have more freedom and more mountains around me.

Impressive pack

Kelty Lakota Backpack - 4000cu in

Kelty Lakota Backpack - 4000cu in

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2010

So far, an awesome pack. I haven't used it on a long backpacking trip yet (I will in the next month or two) but so far I've tested it on a few short hikes packed down with a bunch of stuff to see if it holds up well. Overall, I'm pretty impressed. Sleek, comfortable, and I got mine in that nice forest green color so it looks good too. My only gripe so far with the pack is that it doesn't have more external pockets. That might just be me being picky, though, because overall this pack is a great buy. I'll definitely edit this review and make it more detailed once I take it out on the trail for a few days.

Multi-Use

Columbia Whidbey Water Shorts - Men's

Columbia Whidbey Water Shorts - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2010

Just got this a few days ago from backcountry as it was on sale for $9.99... and it was a well spent 10 bucks. These shorts are light and dry quickly and are almost perfect right out of the bag. The only modification I made to mine was that I cut out the inner mesh underwear, but I do that on every pair of shorts that comes with them. The shorts are good-looking, light, and breathable so you can bum around town in them or even wear them hiking and nobody will know the difference.

Pay attention to the sizing charts, though. I got a small because my waist size is a 30-31 and the Small ranges from 29-32, so the shorts fit perfectly. Overall an awesome buy, especially for 10 bucks.

Good-Lookin Tee

Mountain Hardwear Telescope T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Telescope T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2010

I really like this shirt... it's made with high quality, almost silky to the touch cotton. I'm 5'11", 155 and I ordered a medium- fits perfectly.

Also, it's got a screen-printed, lighter gray Mountain Hardwear logo on the flank that looks pretty cool, too.

Sweet shirt

The North Face Alpine Equipment T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Alpine Equipment T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2010

Got this in Navy and it's awesome. Not too much else to say about it other than that, like all North Face shirts, they run a size big. So unless you want a larger, baggier fit on your Tees, go a size smaller.

Runnin' Big, Buy Small

The North Face Jumbo Logo T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Jumbo Logo T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2010

Awesome shirt, but like all North Face T-Shirts I've worn, it runs a size too big. I usually wear mediums in Tees, but with TNF I always go a size smaller (unless you want a baggy fit). I love this shirt, but realize that the logo on it is BIG.

Bueno, but a bit bulky

Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 4 September 2, 2010

This really is an excellent pad to take with you on most camping/backpacking trips; it's very lightweight, pretty durable, and insulates you and your bag well. The only downside is the bulkiness of it when it's rolled up. Total, mine is about 8 inches thick when rolled. Think of strapping an extremely light log somewhere on your pack.

Other than the thickness, this thing is great, and the value can't be beat.
