I would say yes. Most airlines are concerned more about weight than dimensions. However you could go on some airlines sites and research there bag size requirements and compare them with the dimensions of this bag.

Well the recommended use for this kayak is Lakes, calm rivers, calm ocean water, touring, fishing. What your doing is basically going to be beginner touring and moving your way up. This boat will be perfect for you for starting out and making that transition to a more experienced kayak user.

Yes the material is very similar to the Monkey Man. If you look at the size chart it will show heights to go along with size. That should give you a general idea of what size to buy.
