Very Powerful!

Brunton Raptor Stove

Brunton Raptor Stove

Rating for this product: 5 December 21, 2004

This stove is really cool! I just got mine in the mail about a week ago and I had to fire it up. I turned up the gas and hit the electric ignition and the darn thing boiled enough water for four packets of instant oatmeal in about three minutes. I also own the Brunton Crux and I've used the MSR Pocket Rocket many times, but the Raptor is my favorite. It's not as light as the other two, but it packs quite a punch and the pot supports are massive! The pictures found online all fooled me. The carrying case is perfect, too. For this price, you can't beat the Raptor.

Brunton Raptor Stove

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2004

I just got my stove in the mail and I had to try it out. This thing packs a punch. I also own the Brunton Crux stove, but I'm more impressed with the Raptor. It's a bit heavier, but seems much more durable. The electric starter is very convenient and I know no pot of mine will tip off the supports; they are HUGE! Folds down small, boils water fast, simmers very nicely... everything I need.

Great Performer

Brunton Crux Foldable Butane Canister Stove

Brunton Crux Foldable Butane Canister Stove

Rating for this product: 4 July 19, 2004

This stove is awesome! Very light, very easy to use and store, and boiling time is minimal even on medium output. The only drawback is the little bit (very tiny) of movement of the stove head due to the ball and socket joint, but as long as you watch your pot and aren't clumsy by nature, you'll be very happy with it. The Brunton Optimus Crux is an optimum performer.

What more can you ask for?

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 July 19, 2004

I mean really, what more do you need? It takes 2-3 minutes to blow the darn thing up and you sleep like a baby for the night. Very light for a pad of this caliber and very compact when it's in its stuff sack. I was sliding during my sleep, but that was only because my genius partner chose an inclined camp spot. In short, you won't be disappointed because you won't be awake.

Can't forget about the price tag!

Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 July 19, 2004

You won't even notice this thing in your pack, let alone, in your pocket. 1 click for blinding, 2 clicks for medium intensity, and 3 clicks for doing just about everything other than hiking on rough terrain. This thing isn't going anywhere when it's on your head either! Great buy!

Snow Peak Titanium Cookware - 3pcs

Snow Peak Titanium Cookware - 3pcs

Rating for this product: 5 July 19, 2004

What a great package. This stuff is light without sacrificing durability. Water boils fast because of the efficient rounded bottoms and clean-up is no longer a chore.

I'm a little skeptical about cooking in winter, seeing how there is no tight-fitting lid, but I'm sure a few extra minutes (if that) won't hurt, eh?

My Favorite.

Katadyn Hiker Water Microfilter

Katadyn Hiker Water Microfilter

Rating for this product: 5 July 19, 2004

I've tried a few other filters, but this filter takes the cake. I don't even carry a bladder when hiking along streams and lakes, just my trusty Nalgene and my Katadyn filter. Bust it out, stick it in the water, pump for a few minutes and you've got some good, clean water. Why take on the extra weight of a bladder when it's this easy? My favorite piece of equipment!
