Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad - Rectangular

Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad - Rectangular

Rating for this product: 5 May 17, 2009

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping pads keep you cozy to the core! These are the most comfortable sleeping pads that I have tried! There amazing. They are compact and light! They keep you insulated from the ground and liberated from rocks, pebbles and sticks. I use mine quite frequently in the desert, and it has never failed me. I have used it up in the mountains in below freezing temperatures and it has kept me warm along with my Mountain Hardware Phantom sleeping bag. My only dissatisfaction is after a full days hike; though not time consuming, if feels like a chore to inflate the pad. The inflation process really isnt bad, moreover the benefits of these pads far outweighs any cons.

An amazing dry weather, 20 degree bag

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 May 17, 2009

The Mountain Hardwear Phantom is a bag that packs down small! I dont know if I would give it a true 15 degrees, id say about 20 degrees, however the bag retains some serious heat. I have used mine anywhere from 16 degrees to the high 30s. It definitely performs much better in drier climates. I usually accompany my bag with a Big Agnes insulated Air Core sleeping pad, and my Outdoor Research Aurora bivy. Overall, this is an amazing bag that you can count on to lighten you load and keep you warm at night. I bought a regular sized bag; I am 5ft 8 and I have a little extra room in my feet. A short would have been perfect for me.

Great Filter

MSR MiniWorks Ex Water Filter

MSR MiniWorks Ex Water Filter

Rating for this product: 4 May 17, 2009

The MSR MiniWorks is an effective filter that will turn sludge into unsoiled drinking water. I have used it on several occasions where I was quite skeptical. However, the MiniWorks proved faultless and provided me with crisp, clean H2O.
The only issue that I initially had with the MiniWorks was slow filtration and difficulty pumping. This was resolved by cleaning and scrubbing the ceramic filter. Initially I was afraid of wearing the filter out too fast. But, after a coarse scrubbing, just to remove a thin layer, the filter worked flawlessly.
