Sick tent. Much better than a bivy system in a storm. weighs less than two bivy sacks and the poles and the tent weights are about equal so it is good for splitting up fairly between two people. SO MUCH SPACE.

Big with too many features. I split board and I wanted a bag that could carry a board in ski or board mode and be able to carry my overnight gear. I have a variant 55 that works well for gear and skis but fails in carrying snowboard. So I bought this to see if it would work. Would not fit puffy system, -20 down bag, bivy sack, gore-tex, multi-day food. Shovel pockets with zippers are also a no go for me. I like to access my shovel without A.) using zippers and B,) not having to put it together which wastes time and can get clogged with ice and snow.

Very comfortable pack, but the plastic bits are chintzy and have not lasted half a year of splitboarding and climbing. I was really missing a side or back access and also the "wand pockets" should be big enough to put a nalgene in. I hate hose drinking systems fore they always freeze on me, can't warm my boots, etc. I will say that the v-shape of the pack is very conducive for balance and carrying heavy loads.-Great service with replacement parts

I had the older model. Used for five years. I really enjoyed the features despite the weight. Unfortunately my board carry straps whilst I was traversing a ridge line in a high wind. I sewed up the rip and seamed sealed it so I continue the season, thinking that dakine would honor their LIFETIME warranty. So July came around and the corn was turning to deep suncups so I payed for the shipping to send it back to dakine. Well that turned out to be a big waste of time and money because they sent it back to me with no explanation on why they would not warranty the pack. The board carry ripped from wind. This is supposed to be a guide pack and the mountains are known to be windy. Wish Dakine would honor their words because I loved that pack.

I have been using the glove now for a few days of ice climbing and some backcountry skiing. The glove has kept my hands warm in sub-zero weather and dry. The leather does soak up some water and has taken some wear already in a weeks worth of work. I am stoked that the glove is lined with wool and with all the other materials. Biggest compliant is there is no glove retention system. I guess when I lose one I will console myself by remembering I got it on steep and cheap and pray I don't get frostbite.

I have been looking for a mountaineering boot that I could use for split-boarding for along time and I finally found I one that fits well in my conventional strap bindings. I do have bigger fee(US12, Euro 46) so the boot being a tad bulky did contribute to some toe drag but nothing that rider who is used to boards that don't fit their feet can't handle. I got this boot one day before I was to set off on a 7 day ski trip into the Beartooth wilderness in Montana. In ski mode the boot was very comfortable and climbed well. I will say there was a nominal break-in/adjustment time that was resolved after 3 miles of skinning. When we got to grasshopper glacier the wind was blowing a sustained 40 mph, so spindrift was an issue. The storm grew worse over the continuing days and my outer gear was wet and frozen but my feet were warm...amazing. We broke camp early because the storm was worsening...I was 5 feet under the snow and my cave would rumble and growl from the gusts outside. We braved the pass in 80+ winds in white out conditions and while my body was a little chilled as we navigated by compass my feet stayed warm. I have since taken the boots into Hylite canyon and I found that they climb ice very well. I would recommend these boots to all split-boarders that are looking to do mountaineering. My only concern is that they may be to warm this spring/summer but I am sure I can figure out way to vent them properly. Bottom line they flex at the ankle like a snowboard boot. The boot is comfortable to hike and skin in and is very stiff laterally.
