My favorite shoe

La Sportiva Solution Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Solution Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2010

I absolutely love this shoe. My U.S street shoe size is 6.5 / 7.0 and I have a narrow(ish) ankle, the 37.5 size is what I use for bouldering / steep climbs.

The second I slip into the shoe and fasten the straps, my feet really do feel like weapons with suction powers; there is a video on the la sportiva website where Daniel Woods talks about the shoe, and the shallow pocket underneath your toes that he mentions, really does help suck you into the bigger holds. Let's see, what else... the beak at the front is definitely confidence inspiring, and the rubber up top is great for toe hooking. The heel, although big let's you push into whatever you're hooking and the rubber moulds into the cracks and makes it stick(!).

With all the good comes with a little bad though. The strap can and does wear out pretty quickly. The problem lies in the eyelet that it runs through, which is smooth on the outside, but flip it over and you'll see some sharp edges that slowly cuts away at the material. Personally, I like to strap 'em pretty tight, so the problem is more of an issue for me.

Pros outweigh the one con :)

Five Ten Team 5.10 Climbing Shoe

May 20, 2010

37.5 in the Solutions (5.5 US mens)... where would that put me with these shoes? I have never worn 5.10 shoes before so I'm also wondering how the width of the shoe compares with the Solutions?

La Sportiva Solution Climbing Shoe - Discontinued Rubber

August 21, 2009

I have the Muira VS in size 38, they've stretched a tiny amount to where I sometimes get that farting sound in the heel after a big heel hook (usually after several climbs on a hot day), and they've also developed some hot spots on my foot.

Considering getting the Solutions in a 37... what do you guys think?

Great shoes

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2009

After reading so many mixed opinions / experiences about how to size a climbing shoe, I took a chance and originally bought these 3 sizes down (like La Sportiva says so). Man did they hurt, I could climb in them, but for a primary gym shoe... dropping off a 15ft boulder problem left me wincing in pain.

I quickly returned them and went 1 1/2 sizes down and now they're almost perfect. Just read the description for the performance of this shoe - it lives up to it. Just make sure you size it right! I'm a 39.5 (mens) and my pair are a 38. Definitely wouldn't go any bigger.
