Oakley Minute 2.0 Sunglasses

August 28, 2009

Yes, the Oakley Minute 2.0s are small: I have friends who have big heads, and they cannot wear my sunglasses--not that I'd let them anyway, since the 2.0s are always on my head.

Amazing fit, stylish, and great optics--I love the Minute 2.0

Oakley Minute 2.0 Sunglasses

Oakley Minute 2.0 Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 August 28, 2009

I have owned three pairs of Oakley Minute sunglasses--because I have a small face, they are one of the few sunglasses that fit me well (and don't make me look like a bug). I finally lost my most recent pair of Minutes (after three years of use), and I learned that Backcountry.com had a new version.

Once I got the Minute 2.0, put them on my face, and found that they looked great (even better than the older Minutes); felt lighter, stronger than ever; and had lenses that made the world look more clear, I was sold. I love the new Minute 2.0s and will likely buy several more pairs.

Thank you, Oakley, for updated a great pair of sunglasses, so that they are even better than the originals.

If you have a small face/head and can't find a pair of glasses to fit and look good, these are the pair for you.

And you can NEVER go wrong when you shop at Backcountry.com, since they have the best (or close to the best) prices around and THE best service and return policies I have ever experienced.

A liner on steroids

Arc'teryx Hardface Glove - Unisex

Arc'teryx Hardface Glove - Unisex

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2008

As a self-professed Arc'Teryx fan, I must disclose that I am a bit biased. But I can assure you that I have used these gloves every day--well, all cold days--for over a year, and so my opinion should still help you to make a decision.

The Hardface Glove is like a liner on steroids. The thick Polartec insulation keeps your hands warm when you use them as liners, but if you use them like I most often do, as stand-alone gloves, you will still find the Hardface Glove sufficient for short journeys outside. For example, I ride my mountain bike to work in the cold Northeast winter weather, and I use these gloves as my hands' only protection from the elements. In addition to wearing them as stand-alone gloves, I also use the Hardface Glove as the liner under my Burton gloves: i.e., in place of the thin liners that most gloves come with, the Hardface is a welcome, warm adddition.

The bottom line is this: the leather palms, stiching, and details make these gloves great as a stand-alone glove for short journeys outside--even on single-digit, windy days--but you can also use the Hardface as a super-liner in your normal ski gloves, when you will be in cold, windy weather for extended periods of time.

A great base layer

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 7, 2008

As the second piece of Icebreaker clothing I have purchased, the BodyFit260 crew has pleased me as much or more than my first item, BodyFit200, which I really loved for the fit and warmth.

I think that Icebreaker really does live up to all of the hype about odor resistance and superior warmth. I often where my Icebreaker gear for days of snowboarding without washing it, and I have never been accused of smelling. Similarly, the warmth of the merino wool is great.

My favorite part about the Icebreaker BodyFit260 is the fit and style. If you have an athletic body--i.e., larger shoulders and chest with a smaller waist--the BodyFit260 will fit you well and look great.

If you purchase an IceBreaker product and you make sure you get the right size, I think you will really enjoy your purchase. Also, this site is an amazing retailer in that they have great customer service and a wonderful return policy if you are unsatisfied in anyway.

Happy shopping!

Purchased as a gift twice

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 7, 2008

I bought the Monkey Woman Jacket for my mother for Christmas in 2006 and she loved the jacket for the warmth and soft feel. Unfortunately, my mom lost her jacket, but she liked the Monkey Woman so much that she asked "santa" to get her another one for Christmas 2007.

If you are looking for a warm, soft, and stylish fleece, you should purchase the Monkey Woman jacket for yourself or a friend.

It really does break ice

Icebreaker Skin Mondo Zip - Men's

Icebreaker Skin Mondo Zip - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 28, 2005

The Ice Breaker Mondo zip truly is a marvel. I have had it for a month now and I wear it for all kinds of activities as well as just lounging around the house. It is comfortable, form fitting, warm, and most importantly it really does repel body odors. So much so that it smells just like the day I bought it even after wearing it for days.
