Very comfortable

Merrell Overdrive II Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Merrell Overdrive II Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 14, 2009

I had a pair of the first Overdrives. I loved them. They are very lightweight for a trail shoe, and had a nice fit through the arch/instep area. I didn't like the lacing system, and ended up cutting off the quick lace and replacing with traditional laces.

They dry out well after getting wet, and have nice ventilation. My only complaint, which has since been solved with the Overdrive II is the design of the sole, which delaminated on the heel. My wife has the OD II, and I can see where they fixed the problem so this won't occur.

Very good trail shoe, I'd buy and wear again in the future.

Great Boots

Lowa Banff Pro Backpacking Boot - Men's

Lowa Banff Pro Backpacking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 13, 2009

I really like my Lowa's. Yes, they are stiff, and maybe a tad heavy, but they offer super protection and support. I have worn mine for backpacking heavy loads, day hikes, bowhunting, and general knock around.

The breathe pretty well, and no they aren't water proof. Water resistant is a stretch as well.

I am on my second sole in mine, and they are holding up well. I did replace the insoles with the heat moldable kind, and liked them better afterwards.

Great Shoes

La Sportiva Fireblade Trail Running Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Fireblade Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 13, 2009

I ended up ordering these because I couldn't find Salomons in my size. At first glance, I didn't think they would have adequate cushioning. The fit is incredible though. I love European footwear, they absolutely have it dialed in for people with narrow feet and higher arches. These fit like a glove through the instep, but have a roomy toebox. These are very lightweight, and I have really grown to like the lower heel versus other trail runners I have worn. The seem to offer plenty of protection from rocks. They'll get a good test in a month when I run the Bridger Ridge Run in Bozeman. Last year I wore Montrail Continental Divides, which I found to be pretty ho-hum. I'll give an updated review after the race.

Review Update:

Love the low heel, these shoes have a great "feel" for the trail through technical rocky sections. I didn't lack for cushion at all on the Bridger. The "Sticky Rubber" sole is quite impressive on smooth boulders.

Very nice shoes.
