Stoic Merino Bliss 150 Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino Bliss 150 Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 4, 2010

I would have given the shirt 5 stars if the arms were not so long. The body fits well, nice and slim, but a tad long. The arm pits are a little tight, but they stretch out easy. The arms are really long, 2" too long, even with the thumbholes. I used it twice now, in 30* weather, with a MHW transition pullover and was perfectly comfortable. The wool breathes well and helps regulate body temperature, and no stink! I like the thickness of the wool as well. I've tried patagonia wool 2 and my 'nips' showed right through the shirt. No such problems here. Over all, I really like the shirt, though I may get the arms hemmed to a better length.

Stoic Welder Hi Softshell Jacket - Men's

Stoic Welder Hi Softshell Jacket - Men's

I ordered a bunch of stoic stuff and this is my second favorite, first being the fleece hoody. At 5'6, 130lbs the fit is slim and can only get a few light layers on under it, which is fine by me. The inside of the jacket is AWESOME, very soft and warm, though I think the cirrus lined one is a little warmer. I ordered the gray and orange and didn't like the color. At $240, it's worth it, but little more than I wanted to spend. I'll definitely keep an eye out for a red one on steep and cheap.

Stoic Breaker Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Stoic Breaker Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2009

This is a good looking, nice fitting fleece. I'm 5'6 130lbs and the small fits me really well in length and girth. I got the gray and orange and it's pretty sharp. The fleece is warm, feels as warm as the luft insulated jacket plus the tall collar an hood score extra points. The only thing I'd change is make the body a little more cut in the pits. The wider pits feels like it restricts movement a little and makes wearing it under a shell a little tougher... but makes layer under it a breeze. I paid the $150 for it, and it feels a little pricey, but I like it. I haven't seen it on SAC yet, but will keep my eyes out. Would be a steal for $80.

Stoic Luft Insulated Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Insulated Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 24, 2009

I ordered a bunch of the stoic gear and this is another piece I wanted to like, but ended up returning. I'm 5'6, 130 lbs and the fit was pretty good, slim, but a little long in the arms. The black and red looks good and the stitching gives it a nice look. I also liked the arm gaiters and fleece pockets. But there were three glaring faults for me. Most importantly is just wasn't that warm. My buddy has MHW and an REI primaloft jackets and they are noticeably warmer. Secondly, the stitching is failing across the jacket. A few stitches have actually ripped and several have become lose. And lastly, the insulation is working it's way out of the stitching. I paid $127 for it, and don't think it's worth that price, but I saw it on SAC this morning, size and color, for $72. At that price it's probably worth it, but I don't think I'll reorder even if I see it pop up.

cool jacket, weird fit

Stoic Bombshell Jacket - Men's

Stoic Bombshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 23, 2009

I got this of SAC, great deal. I got the brown/orange one and like the color a lot. I'm 5'6, 130lbs and ordered a small. The length is great, and from the pits down it's nice and slim, actually a little tight around my 29" waist. Above the pits is where the fit goes all wrong. The arms and shoulders are HUGE. Not only are the arms huge in volume, but they go well past my fingers, which is weird because the waist is fairly short. Alas, I'll be returning the jacket.

Mountain Hardwear Dragon Softshell Jacket - Men's

How is this jacket as a winter shell? How is it for skiing, snow, or light rain? How does it compare to the Cohesion jacket?

Thanks

Why are the arms so long?

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 1, 2009

Firstly I'm 5'7, 130lbs and ordered a small. The torso fit perfect, the shoulders are a tad wide, but the arms are way to long. The sleeves actually ended to my finger tips. I have normally lengthed arms, so I'm not sure who this jacket is designed for. Other than the the arms, the jacket material and color are excellent. I am disappointed to have to return it.
