Stomping Grounds:
Wind River Mts, Wyoming -
Bio:
I was an avid downhill skier and hiker growing up in NJ, and spent a lot of time exploring the trails in the Poconos and Delaware Water Gap area. I really fell in love with "the great outdoors" on my first backpacking trip through the Bigelows in Maine when I moved there for college.
Several years later, I moved to upstate NY & spent 8 years exploring the Adirondack Mountains & Lake Champlain; it's there that I got my first taste of cross-country skiing, and I can't wait to get my own equipment so I can go more often.
I moved to Pinedale, WY in June of '08. My boyfriend Gregg & I spend all our free time in the Wind River Mountains & Wyoming Range; sometimes, for a change of scenery, we venture out into the Gros Ventres & the Tetons. This spring, we became the proud "parents" of 3 baby goats: Teddy, Wicket, and Romeo (collectively known as our little "Rough Riders"). We are raising them to be pack goats, so hopefully in four years, the loads we carry on our adventures into the wilderness will be much lighter. Right now, while they're still little, we take them with us on our outings as much as possible a) for training purposes and b) because they're such good company. They love the hiking trips into the mountains, and we even bring them with us when we go fishing so they can get used to getting their little hooves wet in lakes and rivers. During the winter months, Gregg & I love hiking around the mountains in our snowshoes; we can't wait to introduce the Rough Riders to those adventures later this year.

The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pant - Women's
August 5, 2009
I ordered the pants, and now I'm able to answer my own question... And I wanted to make sure to put it up here in case anyone else is wondering.
The asphalt grey IS darker than most other websites depict it to be, but not QUITE as dark as it looks here on Backcountry.com (on the three monitors I've looked at, they look almost black). I personally love it... I'm keeping them for sure!

The North Face Venture Parka - Women's
July 30, 2009
The description mentions layering the Venture Parka "over a warm fleece or softshell in winter..." but is it zip-in compatible?

The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pant - Women's
July 22, 2009
I'm wondering about the Asphalt Grey color - it looks so dark on Backcountry.com, but other websites' images of the pants in that color look significantly lighter. Is Backcountry's depiction accurate? Also, are the pants available in the Pumice Gray (in any size other than 10L)? Thanks!

How wide is the leg opening? What would the cut/style be considered straight leg? Bootcut? Flared?
