Armada JJ Ski

March 7, 2012

I have the JJs mounted tele (at -0.5 cm from boot center) with Hammerhead bindings (stiffy springs, position 5, T1 boots). I think they are exceptionally good as a telemark ski.

Love these skis!

Nordica Radict Ski

Nordica Radict Ski

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2012

I ski the Radicts with Hammerheads (stiffy springs) and Scarpa T1 boots. They are incredible in the powder. Super stable, surprisingly nimble and really fun. The only down sides are that these skis will pummel you once the powder starts to get packed down in spots, and they are heavy, so if you are going long distances on a cat-track, they will tire you faster. Women seem to really like the graphics, and often initiate conversations based on them. I highly recommend the Radicts for shallow (anything over 3 inches)-to-deep powder, and tracked-up but unpacked powder.

Best boot I ever skied

Scarpa Maestrale Alpine Touring Boot

Scarpa Maestrale Alpine Touring Boot

Rating for this product: 5 January 6, 2011

I'm an old fart (55 yrs.), and these are my first AT boots. I'm coming over from being a dedicated telemark skier. In that regard, I've owned old bumblebee Scarpa T1s, the Garmont Genesis, Syner-Gs, Ener-Gs and currently ski in the 2009/10 T1's, which are my favorite tele boot of all time (so far).

The Maestrales are absolutely superb boots. They are the most comfortable, the lightest, the stiffest boot, and the best for touring or hiking that I've owned (so far).

I have not cooked the liners, and don't planned to. For me, the boots have been super comfortable from day one without any thermo-forming.

I've only used these boots to drive Volkl Kendo (177cm), which weighs about 7.5 lbs, but the Maestrales are so stiff that I'm confident they could drive a much bigger ski. I'm using Dynafit Speed bindings with these. Hope this helps!

Volkl Gotama Ski

November 21, 2010

Most definitely -- the new Gotamas are super fun skied tele. I have Voile SwitchBacks on mine, with boot center positioned at the -1cm line. I am very happy with this mounting position. Since the 186cm Gotama is a fairly heavy ski, you would probably get more out of it by mounting Hammerheads, but the SwitchBacks are much nicer for touring and they seem adequate for controlling the ski in powder (I haven't skied this setup in anything else).

Volkl Katana Alpine Ski

September 14, 2010

I have the 190cm Katanas (2009/10) and the 186cm Gotamas (also 2009/10). They are almost exactly the same length. I originally got the next shorter Katanas but returned them because I thought they would be too short.
