Surprisingly good!

Mountain House Vegetable Lasagna - 2 Serving Vegetarian Entree

Mountain House Vegetable Lasagna - 2 Serving Vegetarian Entree

Rating for this product: 4 April 8, 2009

Not bad - I would definitely buy one of these again. We poured boiling water straight into the bag and had no problems with crunchy noodles.

A two-serving entree, however, is for just one person if you've been working hard.

Thinner than expected

Sierra Designs Drizone Packable Bootie Slipper - Women's

Sierra Designs Drizone Packable Bootie Slipper - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 April 8, 2009

I bought these to sleep in since I get very cold feet in my sleeping bag. They were not as thick as I had expected, but they were comfortable. I wore them over a thick pair of wool socks and my feet stayed warm. Without them, I would wake up with feet of ice, so they obviously did the trick. However, if the temps were much below 25F, I would upgrade to some down booties.
I wore them around camp while making dinner, etc. and they held up well.

Mountain House Oriental Style Spicy Chicken - 2 Serving Entree

Mountain House Oriental Style Spicy Chicken - 2 Serving Entree

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2009

Great dinner! The spice helps the food go down when you're having trouble eating enough calories. (One 2-serving bag is for one person.) The chicken was moist enough and the vegetables and spices tasted great!

A little strange...

Mountain House Scrambled Eggs w/ Bacon - Breakfast Entree

Mountain House Scrambled Eggs w/ Bacon - Breakfast Entree

Rating for this product: 3 April 8, 2009

This isn't my favorite, but when you're looking for variety and calories, this does the job. The consistency of the eggs was weird, but it went down easy enough. The other egg and ham breakfast is better.

Tasty!

Mountain House Raspberry Crumble

Mountain House Raspberry Crumble

Rating for this product: 4 April 8, 2009

Pretty great, lots of chocolate bits. I would have liked if it could have been served hot, but the instructions say cold. The raspberry tastes like premade pie filling, which is pretty awesome in the wilderness.

Lots of veggies!

Mountain House Pasta Primavera - 2 Serving Entree

Mountain House Pasta Primavera - 2 Serving Entree

Rating for this product: 4 April 8, 2009

It's great to get so many vegetables in the dinner, after you've been out in the woods for a few days and can't remember what they taste like. The sauce is tasty, but overall we've found the MH dishes with chicken are better than the vegetarian options.

Great shoe, some problems

Salomon Tech Amphibian 2 Shoe - Women's

Salomon Tech Amphibian 2 Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 30, 2009

I just wore these on a four day canyoneering trip. With a 30 pound pack, these shoes were comfortable and stiff enough. We were in and out of the muddy water for 40 miles, and the shoes drained well and my feet are blister-free. I have wide feet, and I wore both thin and very thick neoprene socks, and the shoes comfortably accommodated both. Two problems, though:

1. The heel strap slipped. There is a little webbing strap that cranks down on your heel, and it comes loose pretty quickly, causing the shoe to flop up and down. I put a safety pin through the webbing and that held up for the trip. This shouldn't be necessary, though.

2. The lace busted! These laces are specialized and difficult to replace - this is a huge problem! After about 10 miles in muddy water, the abrasion of the silt in one of the lace eyelets wore through the lace. These are tough conditions for the laces, sure, but these shoes were sold to me as canyoneering shoes. This shouldn't have happened.
