MSR Dromlite Bags

MSR Dromlite Bags

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

This drom is where it's at! I won't go backpacking without it. It's never leaked in my pack, and I trust it won't. The cap is ingenious for all purposes and the add-ons make its potential uses even more numerous. Thanks for another great product MSR

This shoe changed my life

Sanuk Hemp Shoe - Men's

Sanuk Hemp Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

My first pair of Sanuks, I wore these until the bottom was completely void of tread and I slipped and slided around Pittsburgh's winter sidewalks. Now I have 3 pairs of Sanuks, and I hope they keep making them forever. Their footwear defines comfort.

Bulky but warm

The North Face Windwall 2 Fleece Jacket - Men's

The North Face Windwall 2 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

Windproof like no fleece I've ever worn, although a bit on the bulky side. This thing has saved my butt on many an occasion. Definitely the warmest fleece I've ever owned.

Tough & Grippy

Outdoor Research Gripper Glove - Men's

Outdoor Research Gripper Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

These babies are incredibly warm and very wind resistant. Aside from when it was wet, these gloves had no problem keeping my hands warm throughout the past winter in the high desert. I definitely recommend

Almost perfect

CamelBak Better Bottle w/ Bite Valve - 1L

CamelBak Better Bottle w/ Bite Valve - 1L

Rating for this product: 4 April 14, 2011

I love the fact that I can drink this while off-roading or running on the treadmill. I also love that I don't have to unscrew anything to take a drink. If they could make these so they didn't leak while on their side, they would be perfect.

Great add-on

CamelBak Big Bite Valve Cover

CamelBak Big Bite Valve Cover

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

Personally, this is a must-have. Whether it's sand, mud or otherwise, I don't want anything except water to come out of my bite valve, and this solves that problem.

Versatile

Therm-a-Rest Stuff Sack Pillow

Therm-a-Rest Stuff Sack Pillow

Rating for this product: 3 April 14, 2011

I like the fact that this doubles as a stuff sack and a pillow. For a minimalist this is a great choice. Usually though, I have enough room in my pack to fit my Cocoon featherlight inflatable pillow, which I prefer over this.

Sturdy pad

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 4 April 14, 2011

My first inflatable pad, I'm surprised how much abuse this thing can handle! It has endured regular use for almost 2 years without an issue. I'm not always able to use a tarp, sometimes placing the pad directly on rocky ground, and it's never sprung a leak. It also insulates pretty well- I'm comfortable (in my 0-degree bag) even when the temp drops down into the teens. Do yourself a favor and buy the stuffsack if you're buying this pad.

Petzl reads minds

Petzl ACCU Core Rechargable Headlamp Battery

Petzl ACCU Core Rechargable Headlamp Battery

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

This thing rules! The fact that it uses a microUSB connection (same as my phone) was the icing on the cake. I was initially concerned about my headlamp sticking out from my head farther, but the difference turned out to be negligible. The only noticeable differences between the CORE and regular AAA batteries were how light the headlamp became and the longer battery life. The battery gauge is pretty great too! I definitely recommend this product to my coworkers and friends.

awesome

Petzl Tikka XP 2 Headlamp

Petzl Tikka XP 2 Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

Combined with the CORE, this thing can do everything! The bright mode dwarfs my friend's Tikka Plus 2,even when my batteries are low. I'm especially fond of the red mode and the wide-angle filter for the white light.

Perfecto!

Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

I've had this tent for about a month. The few times I've used it, I've been extremely satisfied with its every aspect. It's pretty lightweight, quick to set up and tear down, seems pretty sturdy and water-resistant, and roomy enough for one person plus their backpack (especially considering the vestibule). The only drawback I've recognized so far was that I had to buy the footprint separately.

Lightweight yet durable. Decent waterproofing.

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 20, 2009

I've been using this jacket in the field for almost two months (when it rains). Withstands up to a few hours of moderate to heavy rainfall. I have yet to get wet wearing this jacket, but I've noticed the fabric becoming saturated after extended exposure to rain. Overall, I'm happy with this investment.

Polar FT80 Heart Rate Monitor

May 5, 2009

How big is this thing? I have small wrists/hands for a guy, and I really don't like big, bulky watches. It says unisex, so I wouldn't expect it to be too big, but it's hard to tell...
