MontBell Alpine Light Down Parka - Men's

MontBell Alpine Light Down Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 16, 2009

This is one of my favorite pieces of gear. It goes with me on almost all my adventures. Super light weight, but not so delicate that you have to worry about tearing it all the time. Great fit-Im 5ft 10.5, 165lbs, 41 inch chest and the medium is a perfect athletic fit. It packs so small that you hardly notice it- until the temp drops. The first time I wore it I was in the Sierra Nevadas and got caught in an unexpected cold snap- temps at night were around 0 degs and I had packed relatively light- this thing saved my butt!! Although I think that temp is a bit too cold for this jacket, it is much warmer than it looks- with a merino base layer and a light merino wool sweater underneath, and a Goretex Pro shell on top, Im good down to the high teens around camp. Be sure to have a reliable rain shell to throw on over it, cause it will get wet very easily even in light rain. Rockin Light Parka!

MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Hugger #0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

September 15, 2009

Im looking for a bag to take with me for winter camping above the tree line in the Sierra Nevadas... I have some pretty burly down clothing that I could supplement this bag with.... Will this be enough warmth?

EXCELLENT!

Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

I really love this fleece...

Blocks wind well, much warmer than it looks, and not bad looking either. I am 5' 11" 165lbs, chest 40" and the medium fits perfectly. With a smartwool base layer it creates a surprisingly warm yet breathable and windproof system. Throw a hard shell over that and Im good down to the high 20's moving at a moderate pace or the low 40's just sitting around.

Great multipurpose piece of gear!
