The North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR Boa Hiking Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 March 3, 2009

I purchased these hiking boots for my daughter for Christmas. She was going to spend a semester abroad and it was recommended that she have good hiking footwear. She looked at all of the options and chose these shoes. She received them for Christmas (12-25-08), left for Africa on (1-15-09) and just this past weekend (2-28-09) the cording broke while she was hiking in the mountains. That averages out to 9 weeks with only 2 mountain hikes for a total cost of $68.50 a hike. Now, the one shoe is rendered useless and she still has 4 months abroad. I did NOT get my money's worth. Neat gimmick how they tie, but the cording does not hold up under less than normal hiking conditions. What a mistake.
