  • Bio:

I'm 76 and love recumbent trike touring. Take a look at http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=3Tzut&doc_id=4527&v=1C for a tour I went on in July '09. My photo is from that tour on the Windcheetah, probably the fastest in the world - someone - NOT Me - did 60MPH on one with a faring. 20 is good for me. The windcheetah's only purpose is to still be able to out-ride my teenage grandsons. This picture is http://content.backcountry.com/images/bcs/profile/save.gifbefore I traded with my grandson for the HP Velotechnik Scorpion, my to end all touring trike with a 10 gear inch lower (15) gear than the Windcheetah.

From one campsite on a recent HPV tour. WHY DISCONTINUE THIS COLOR??? If I didn't already have three I would order another before it goes away!

Stoic Bertol Guide Softshell Pant - Men's

February 24, 2012

Just got these great pants and didn't find detailed washing instructions.
They look to me like I had better be careful with that. Is there a "Curley" Video? if not, suggestions. Cold, warm or hot water? Use or don't use dryer?

Wool is good for summer

Stoic Merino 150 Bliss Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino 150 Bliss Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 22, 2011

I thought wool was to keep you warm in winter. However, Marino Wool wicks perspiration away, doesn't establish or retain oder and, in the low thickness of this garment, is the best thing I have found to wear in the heat while recumbent trike touring. Ordered the dark blue (favorite color) and it needed to be another size so I returned it and ordered the lightest color they had to reflect the sun. I bought two and wear one of them every day as my only upper layer.

One thing needed

Arc'teryx Palisade Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Palisade Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 9, 2011

I've got a pair of Arc'teryx Palisade Short - material teraTex - and, though I have trouble swallowing $98 for a pair of shorts, I would pay $129 for a pair of pants of the same material - to use in winter along with my Icebreaker Marino wool undergarments - IF the bottom of the pants was zippered to fit closely around my ankle. I don't want the bottom of the pant legs to be flopping to catch something. When that gets taken care of, I'll buy a pair,

The Very Best

Icebreaker BodyFit 260 Tech Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 6, 2011

WHY DISCONTINUE THIS COLOR??? If I didn't already have three I would order another before it goes away! Much better than the nearest wool garment I have worn. Very warm and comfortable. My grandson and I each wore ours every day of a recent trike (HPV) road trip (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/?o=RrzKj&page_id=184366&v=A1) Many of the pages there show this garment. Everything good written on previous reviews is true: No oder, Very warm and comfortable etc... etc... etc... Yes, this is an under garment but I have and plan to wear it as outer every day it is cool enough. I ended up buying three. First image is my grandson

True Quality

The North Face Pamir WindStopper Jacket - Men's

The North Face Pamir WindStopper Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 3, 2011

I ordered a fleece jacket for myself and my wife at less than half the price. Ann's is still good with a heavy zipper but on mine the main zipper and one pocket zipper quit functioning with only a few month's use. I bit the bullet and paid for this quality jacket. It is also windproof. I MUST have zippered pockets. I recumbent trike tour and lose things! These pockets are wonderful and the jacket is also a wind breaker.
I also bought an Icebreaker Windbreaker hooded rain jacket that has WONDERFUL right, left and left arm zippered pockets along with Icebreaker top and bottom 260 marino wool under-layers. Finally I am set. They are all great.

I wear nothing but shorts and these are the best

Arc'teryx Palisade Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 24, 2010

I've had these for about a year and take them off for washing when I go to church on Sunday. The little pocket is perfect for my garage door remote when I am recumbent triking. Before these zippered pockets I lost a cell phone and several remotes while triking. The material is awesome! I don't think it will ever wear out. It dries as quickly as ANY material I have had. It fits well and doesn't bulge to rub and wear on the wheels. When it went on sale this year I waited too long and my size was not available. :-(. If I can get another pair my many pairs of high quality shorts will just have to never come out of the drawer. Left pocket wallet & spare batteries. Right pocket keys and cell phone. Upper pocket remote. I will not use a hip pocket. Don't like sitting on things.
12 August 2011THEY WENT ON SALE! YEA! I CAN GET ANOTHER PAIR - EVEN IF THEY ONLY HAVE BLACK!!!

Got the black. They are beautiful. Wish my first pair was black. It "ain't gonna" wear out!
