The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Women's

October 20, 2011

I want to a jacket exactly like the Apex Bionic softshell except with a hood-- What's out there? I need something heavier than a sweatshirt because I already have a TNF Favorite Sweatshirt which is a light weight, slightly water resistant hoodie. But I want a jacket with this kind of thickness just with a hood for rainy days or extra windy days.

Nice hoodie

The North Face Fave-Our-Ite Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

The North Face Fave-Our-Ite Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 September 5, 2011

Just got the Gravity/Gelato Purple. The color looks more like a heather-gray, with purple instead of gray. In other words there are a lot of white flecks within the purple. So it's not a solid looking purple, and it has more of a purplish-white look similar to heather-gray, which has lots of white inflected within the gray.
The material is still very soft and it's a nice comfortable fit. It doesn't feel like it's been coated with any type of treatment.

The North Face Base Camp Messenger Bag - 305-2015cu in

August 16, 2011

I have the small bag and I have two questions about the straps.
1. The ratchet-type strap that is adjustable is great, but what do I do with the extra length?
2. The waist strap is really long. Is there a way to pack away the waist strap when not in use?

Cool Bag for wet weather

I just got the small in Blitz Blue and this is a really cool looking bag. The small is a great size if you don't plan on carrying a laptop (an ipad definitely). It's big enough to hold a wallet, ipod, glasses, phone, and all kinds of other thing. I did not know this bag was made of some sort of vinyl material. I expected it to be more nylon/canvas type. The bottom is a waterproof nylon but the bag flap is more of a rubbery, waterproof, vinyl. But it's actually a great look. I'm not worried at all about how to carry my stuff in the winter months or in the rain. I know it will be thoroughly protected. It's also got a great padded shoulder strap. If it's missing anything it's a small pocket for a water bottle or something. But of course a water bottle could easily fit inside the pouch. The small is a great everyday sort of bag. I can see myself wearing this with my jeans and khakis an my TNF softshell or fleece. I'm strongly considering buying another one just because of how cool this bag looks.

Perfect Soft Shell for wind and rain

The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Women's

The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 August 2, 2011

I love this jacket!!! This is probably my 10th TNF jacket. I mostly get fleece, but I needed a nice softshell. The dark cherry purple is such a great color. Initially I couldn't decide between the Small and XS. I have Denali jackets in small and another TNF fleece in XS. I wanted a smaller, more tailored fit so I went with the XS--that's exactly what I got. I wear a 2 or a small in women's shirts and this jacket will be great with a thin base a layer or long sleeved shirt underneath. It's not roomy enough for anything thicker--maybe a light zip up or pullover hoodie. But it's exactly the fit I wanted. The zipper can be zipped all the way up the neck and if the jacket is too big this could be potentially uncomfortable because the material is slightly stiff. But a well fitting jacket should be no problem. Of course, it doesn't have to be zipped all the way up but it's designed so that it can be, in order to keep the wind and rain out. It's actually a pretty warm jacket. This is going to be great for cool wet and/or windy days. I actually can't wait for a little chilly rain just to sport this.

4 star pants; but just too big

The North Face Horizon Valley Convertible Hiking Pant - Women's

The North Face Horizon Valley Convertible Hiking Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 August 2, 2011

Just bought these for a hiking trip in Alaska. Unfortunately they're way too long and pretty big in the waist also. I could probably get over the waist being too big if they weren't so also. I'm probably going to return them and try and get them in a smaller and shorter length. Im 5'2 and normally wear a 2Petite in most women's pants. I got a small/reg. Initially I picked a small/short but they ran out before I purchased them. I think the sm/sh would have probably been too big too. I'll go with an XS/Short. But the pants are really nice. The material is light, and it's a quick dry material that works well with my hiking boots, and waterproof shell. The length of the shorts are great because I like my shorts a little bit long, and these hit right at the knee. These pants also have lots of pockets and the back pocket is supposedly to pack and stow the pants, although, I found this to be a little bit difficult. The pants didn't exactly pack away easily--but I'm sure it can be done with some practice.

EMU Stinger Lo Boot - Women's

November 30, 2009

I think they run slightly bigger than Ugg's. I am a 7 or 7 1/2. I have Uggs in a size 7 and they fit great. just snug enough with some room. The size 7 Emu (Bronte Hi) seemed roomier, wider, and a bit bigger in general. I was going to return them for a smaller size but ended up just keeping them because they were comfy.

The North Face Classic Denali Fleece Jacket - Women's

November 23, 2009

I'm the same size. I have two denali's and both are a small. They have enough room to wear another fleece inside. If you want one that is a little more form/slim fitting then go XS. If you want one that is a little more loose go Small. I also have really long arms and sometimes XS women's clothing seem to have narrow shoulders and fit too tight in the armpit or too short in the sleeve length, which is why I typically go with Small for outer garments and I can do with XS for base layers.

Sporty, and Flattering

The North Face Grace Hooded Jacket - Women's

The North Face Grace Hooded Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 23, 2009

I bought this because I needed a functional rain coat that didn't look like a 4th grade slicker. This coat is very modern, very sleek, and sophisticated while being completely functional.
I'm 5'3, 105 and I ordered a small. It very well with just everyday clothing, and it comfortable in the arm pit. I have long arms and the length is great.
If the weather is below 50 or windy it's best to wear a light fleece for a little extra warmth. There is enough room for me to wear a sweater or form fitting fleece without being tight. I actually tried it on with a TNF Denali underneath (that was a little much, but technically would work if you needed it to).
This is fantastic rain coat.
