Very comfortable

Lowa Mountain Expert GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Lowa Mountain Expert GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 9, 2010

The perfect boot for the climb if you dont want to use plastics. My feet stay warm for an entire climb. The outside leather will absorb some water, which becomes a problem the next morning when they are frozen. They will flex just a tad, so its possible to wear on the approach hike to the base camp. Very comfortable for average width feet. Recommended for most U.S. summits.

Less bulk, faster run

The North Face E 50/50 Bottle Holder

The North Face E 50/50 Bottle Holder

Rating for this product: 5 May 3, 2010

Having water with you while trail running can be a hassle. Lumbar packs are somewhat irritating and bulky, as is having a camelbak. While the camelbak holds more water it just makes it that much more bulky. So I thought I’d try out The North Face E 50/50 bottle even though I didn’t like the idea of holding a bottle the whole time I ran, it wasn’t as bad as I though. I took a 4 mile run though a canyon and never really noticed that I had it. The straps work well and do most of the holding for you, the only down side is that some of the trails I run are steep enough at times to require your hands so in that case it probably would not work to well and a camlebak may be more suitable. One suggestion fill the bottle with ice before you run so when you need it, the water won’t be body temperature.

Cool pack, but not perfect

Arc'teryx Silo 30 Backpack - 1648-1831cu in

Arc'teryx Silo 30 Backpack - 1648-1831cu in

Rating for this product: 3 April 13, 2010

Pros:
In general, I'm happy with this pack. It has several good external straps for carrying major gear (e.g., skiis, ice picks, etc.). The inside is nice - it has one basic inner zippable pouch for small stuff, an outer larger pouch for holding wet stuff (e.g., a shovel), and an inner pouch for holding a water bladder. The external part of the back is nice too with thermoformed padding that contours to my back.

Cons:
The backstraps are ultra thin. Other packs have nicely padded straps that fit nicely over my shoulders; not so much here.
The actual storage capacity of the bag is limited. can only carry so much.

Simple and well-designed

Thule Roadway Hitch Bike Carrier - 4 Bike

Thule Roadway Hitch Bike Carrier - 4 Bike

Rating for this product: 5 April 13, 2010

3 bolts to install, and it's ready to go. The 2 levers are obvious and solid. The only downside is that to lock it onto your hitch, you really need 2 locking bolts, or a long cable lock.

Takes a moderate beating

The North Face Crestone 60 Backpack - 3350-3950cu in

The North Face Crestone 60 Backpack - 3350-3950cu in

Rating for this product: 5 April 12, 2010

I think I have used this pack enough now to give a fair review. When I first received it I felt the fabric seemed a little too thin thinking maybe it would not be strong, but after packing it to the max a few times it does appear to be quite strong and able to take a moderate beating. I won’t say it’s the strongest pack but it is supper light and I do like the way it distributes weight. My only complaint is that it does not come with a rain cover. Also I bought this pack for one week trips but it would fall short by quite a few days. I would only recommend this pack for 3 to 4 day trips max. However the pack has impressed me enough to try out the Crestone 75.

Nice Shirt

The North Face Half Dome T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Half Dome T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 4, 2010

It's just an all around basic cotton t-shirt. No dry technology, nothing special. I get it dirty, wash it, and then wear it again. I haven't yet bought into the whole $40.00 shirt concept yet so I still prefer the basic t-shirt.

Burton Glacier Pack - 36L - 09/10

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2009

Plenty of room for gear, does not add stress to my shoulders, keeps your gear dry, and keeps the board locked in so nice you don't even know its there. I have 2 of them and if I had a reason to I would by another.
