When I need new sunglasses I'm getting these again.. I use them for everything - ice climbing, ski touring, hiking, driving etc. I even used them on denali - the coverage was good enough! I use the X5 lense almost all the time but when I have changed them it hasn't been a problem.

Lightweight, fits great..

I had the reverso before getting this. After having a bad experience with the reverso while rappelling on a skinny rope I got this one. Has all the same features but work on skinny ropes as well.

Nice pack but a little too heavy for the size. I have a cilogear pack now.

If you ice climb and don't have an ice climbing specific harness - get these. You'll be a lot happier.

I originally bought these three years ago and they had the schoellar fabric and primaloft liner. I loved them- I used them for everything- ice climbing, backcountry skiing, mountaineering etc. Every now and then I would get a cold finger but I could just ball my hand in the glove and warm up - usually it would only happen if I was standing around for a while. The only other issue I had with them was if they got a little wet or my hand was a little sweaty the liner would turn inside out when I pulled my hand out . This was especially frustrating on ice climbs etc because I would have to pull the glove apart and push all the fingers back out put it on my hand and then put the shell back on. Anyway, other than that I liked the glove enough that I bought another pair recently after losing one glove. So why the three stars???

Well, the gloves I bought as replacements were not the same. They had the same name but that was it. They were not made with the schoeller dry skin but some other cheap stiff fabric. The had a wool liner instead of the primaloft liner which was really stiff and itchy. I tried hard to like them but after ski touring with them and having itchy hands that cramped up trying to hold onto my ski poles with stiff ass gloves I returned them and bought the OR ascent gloves. It's too bad because the OR ascent gloves aren't as warm as the original BD gloves but they aren't itchy either.

I recently had these stolen out of my car and so in the process of buying new boots tried really hard to fall in love with a different boot. I tried on the garmonts, black diamond's new boot, dynafits, and a few others. I ended up buying the same boot again. scarpa T2

I only had the tallest one installed and thought it was perfect for most climbing in the wasatch.

I have been using these skins for about three years now and they still work fine. I was worried when I first bought these that they wouldn't hold up as well as the asensions but I wanted something really light weight and small in my pack. So far I haven't been disappointed. I think I may need to reapply some glue but they seem to be staying on fine anyway because of the clip system. When they wear out I will def. replace them with the same skins. And my friends with the ascensions are thinking about getting these.

I have used the super stinx, dawn patrol, hippy stinx and so far this is my favorite for backcountry. My only mistake was that I didn't buy it last year when I first started thinking about it. I wanted a ski that would ski pretty much anything but also hold an edge on icy skin tracks along ridgelines etc. I also wanted one that would be lightweight enough that I wasn't to exhausted to enjoy the ski down after skinning up. I have to say that this ski hold an edge much better than the dawn patrol did. I think because it is stiffer and also shaped slightly differently. The super stinx was good in the backcountry on icy days, but no fun on powder days and the hippy stinx is just too heavy. :( Anyway, this ski is awesome- I put the switchback tele bindings on it and now enjoy hiking up almost as much as skiing down. I would def. buy this again.

I've used these all winter in the backcountry- haven't had any problems. I even used these on denali by superglueing them to a pair of REI superlight poles.

I've used this ski for about three years both in the resort and backcountry. For the most part I was able to ski everything (moguls, ice, powder, crud etc) without to many problems. This year I switched to the K2 Mt. baker SL only because I wanted something light and stiffer for ski mountaineering. If I was only doing resort skiing or skiing powder in the backcountry I would probably stick with the dawn patrol- and for $250 you are going to hard pressed to find a better ski.

These are great for the resort but if you do a lot of backcountry go with a binding that has a touring option- like the voile switchback or BD O1. I just bought the switchback this year to replace these and I was amazed at how much better it was with the touring mode- I never thought it would make that big of a difference! but it does- never going back. I immediately sold both sets of my G3 targas. I gave the binding four stars because it works great for the resort, it very light, and I never had one break. Supposing they do break in the backcountry they are very easy to fix in the field.
