The Workhorse Layer

Patagonia R1 Fleece Pullover - Men's

Patagonia R1 Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 10, 2009

I consider this my workhorse layer. It comes with me during day hikes in the summer, aggressive ski days in the winter, and slogs through the winter snow in the adirondacks. There is nothing the R1 fleece can't do.

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 10, 2009

For weighing very little, this jacket is perplexingly warm. The fleece or "Monkey Phur" is a very high loft material that keeps you warm on even the windiest of days. Perfect as a mid layer under a shell on really cold days. This is a top notch fleece, without a doubt.

Bombproof Protection

Marmot Exum Jacket - Men's

Marmot Exum Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 10, 2009

This is an incredible jacket. It keeps your completely dry in all sorts of awful conditions, remains breathable and the pit zips provide easy open and closed ventilation when you need it most. There is plenty of space to layer, it is incredibly light, and packs up very small when on the go. If you're looking for one shell that does it all...here it is.

The North Face Primero 70 Backpack - 3950-4600cu in

Rating for this product: 5 May 10, 2009

The crew at the north face has taken extra care to make sure that you stay as ventilated as possible with the Primero 70. It stays comfortable when fully packed and sheds moisture during those quick summer showers.

Black Diamond Sabretooth Clip Crampons with ABS

Black Diamond Sabretooth Clip Crampons with ABS

Rating for this product: 5 May 8, 2009

Whether its loose snow or hard ice on a steep pitch these crampons can handle it all. The secondary points are sharp enough to grab and tear through anything (just ask my Mammut Pants). They're a little on the heavy side, but can perform in a variety of tasks. They compliment my LaSportiva Trango S Evo GTXs very nicely.

La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 8, 2009

Awesome boots. MY feet have never gotten cold or wet in these. They will go through the mud and water at lower elevations and perform well in tough snow pack up high. Look no further, this is a great all around boot.
