Great product

Marmot Tempo Vest - Women's

Marmot Tempo Vest - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 April 13, 2012

I bought this for my wife, was trying to find a softshell vest similar to my TNF Apex vest for layering and spring/Fall wear (and summer since we live in Montana) and this fits the bill very well. Excellent craftsmanship, very comfortable and looks great on her. Thanks!

Excellent mittens

Hestra Heli Mitten

Hestra Heli Mitten

Rating for this product: 4 December 27, 2011

Only the lack of fleece on the backs to wipe your face prevent me from giving these a 5 star rating. Warm, flexible, very high quality leather palms and wool liners.

Great women's snowshoe

Atlas Electra 9 Series FRS Snowshoe - Women's

Atlas Electra 9 Series FRS Snowshoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 27, 2011

I bought these as first snowshoes for my wife and couldn't be happier. She needed no orientation time, just a lesson on how to adjust the bindings and whoosh, off to the mountains through soft, deep snow and icy crusts alike.

Nice all around jacket

The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Men's

The North Face Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 14, 2011

I really appreciate the versatility of softshell fabrics and have several that I use regularly. TNF Apex is a little bit stiffer and heavier than my others, but suspect that will loosen up with wear. It is very comfortable and probably my warmest softshell. Also looks fine as a casual jacket.

Great shirt

The North Face Syncline Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Syncline Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 13, 2011

I prefer the original Syncline shirt style instead of the newer style, but same great fabric. Very comfortable to wear, easy care, and unexpected benefit is that women love to touch this shirt! Honest! I have had a number of women ask me to touch these shirts, must be something about the perceived feel, and several asked for details on how to order for their husband/boyfriends, so TNF may have something going here.

Very comfortable, good value

Mountain Hardwear Switch 20 Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic

Mountain Hardwear Switch 20 Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 5 August 14, 2011

This is a very comfortable sleeping bag, temperature rating holds true for me, but then I do tend to sleep warm. I like the extra shoulder room with the expansion section zipped open.

Great snowshoes

Atlas 11 Series Snowshoe

Atlas 11 Series Snowshoe

Rating for this product: 5 March 22, 2011

I really love these snowshoes. I've used Redfeather, Tubbs and US Army Mountain snowshoes and the Atlas are by far the easiest to adjust and have excellent build quality. Living in Montana (and 12 years in Alaska), I place a high premium on backcountry gear that is simple to use when you are tired and so cold that your fingers are stiff. These bindings pass that test very well, something I can not say about the design commonly found on MSR and Redfeather shoes (at least in my experience).

Atlas are excellent snowshoes

Atlas Elecktra 10 Series Snowshoe - Women's

Atlas Elecktra 10 Series Snowshoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 22, 2011

I use Atlas 11 Mountain snowshoes which I bought after watching my girlfriend thoroughly enjoy her Atlas Elektra 23's, either walking through deep powder or running like a gazelle in fresh, shallow snow. She didn't kick up appreciable snow on her back under any conditions, so have to wonder if it is a matter of technique. I also have Redfeather Sport 30's and have used Tubb's and Army mountain snowshoes back in my Alaskan Army days and find the Atlas bindings and design to be the best out there. Just my opinion.

A Step Down from the previous version

Mountain Hardwear Torsion Glove

Mountain Hardwear Torsion Glove

Rating for this product: 2 November 16, 2009

I really like the previous version, these are a major disappointment. The earlier ones were comfortable from the first, the Pittards leather much superior to the Goatskin, and even the Conduit felt more flexible/stretchy on the old ones. In general, I think Mountain Hardwear de-contented this glove in it's latest version. I would not buy another pair and may return these.
