great 3 1/2 season tent

GoLite Xanadu 4 Shelter 4-Person 4-Season

GoLite Xanadu 4 Shelter 4-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 3 April 3, 2009

This is in my opinion a great 3 1/2 season tent. It is very light weight and roomy and has a decent vestibue. My issue with this tent is that it has mesh doors and windows with no nylon zippered closures.I had to return it do to the fact that if it's used during a snowy time that snow will get blown in thru the mesh. The tent's vestibue is designed to prohibit this, however I have used many tents in the winter here in Alaska and I always have snow blown in under the vestibue and up against the tent. I was looking for a light weight 3 or 4 person tent that was a trus 4 season tent. I exchanged this for a North Face V-25 3 person tent and I'm very pleased with it. For the record Backcountry was very helpful getting me the exchange that I wanted and didn't even charge me for shipping on my exchange. I will definately do business with them again.

Black Diamond Hooped Bivy Sack

February 12, 2009

Hi, I am going on a mountain goat hunt in Alaska where I live. I am wanting to buy a bivy that I can pack with me in the event that I get stuck on the mountain OR need to spike camp for a couple three days. I can expect rain and/or snow that time of year and want a bivy that I will not get soaked in. Do you think this would work for me or is there something else that you would reccomend. I am also looking for a sleeping bag liner that I can use in conjunction with my Big Agnes 0 degree bag. I will also be wanting to carry the liner with me in case I get stuck on that mountain to use with the bivy. Thank you in advance for your help, Len Mann
