Fit is an issue for me. I'm 6'1" with broad shoulders and back and about 36" waist...not obese, but not super-trim...normally fit for an active city dweller.

The Large size fit well around the waist, and the arm length was just right. But the shoulders-chest area was just a touch too tight to make it a reasonable fit, especially if I needed to wear something other than a base layer.

The XL size was a bit on the larger side overall. Shoulders were good, but there's a bit too much material around the waist and a touch long in sleeves.

I'm a hard person to fit in general (broad shoulders, narrower waist), so this is no surprise...just a note to others like me.

Anyway, other than fit issues, this seems like it will be an awesome jacket. I just picked one up but haven't had the opportunity to use it in the field. It seems to be within the family of the Patagonia-like down sweater field of lightweight down or synthetic insulation layers. I like the fact that it has a hood, which to me makes it more versatile.

Good details...inside water bottle pocket, high-ish hand pockets, lightweight. Might not be as compression packable as others given the fact that it has a hood.

I like the pull tabs on the inside hand pockets to snug the bottom elastic...there are also conventional drawstrings in the usual places around the hem and also in the hood.

Overall, five star jacket, minus one star for fit.

Decent jacket when I was able to snag it on sale for $100 last year.

I found it to be a good insulating layer under a shell, though as others mentioned, it's a bit bulky. I'm 225 #'s and went with XL, which fit in shoulders but left a lot of material around the waist.

I've also worn this as an outer layer over a base layer, and it's kept me more than toasty on 15-degree days on the trail with a heavy pack.

In retrospect, a wind blocking fleece would have been a better choice, but for the money (on sale), I'm able to make do.

Good hat. Very warm and breathable.

But, the sizing and fit were a little off. The large was too small, and the XL was a little too big...the hat was blown off my head in a 60 mph wind on a summit.

Now I'm looking to buy a new hat that has a chin strap.

I bought this for a winter trip in the White Mountains. I have large shoulders and narrower waist, so in order to accommodate the fit, I got the large. Unfortunately, it was too long top to bottom, and the pack was too loose up top...too much swaying around my shoulders. Fortunately, I was able to return the pack for medium torso length pack and then exchange the shoulder straps for a larger size. Presto! problem fixed.

I was able to cram all of my gear into this pack. The only gripe that I have is that the sleeping bag compartment was too small to easily fit a long sized, zero degree sleeping bag. Yes, I used a compression sack. I was able to get the bag in, but I was sweating on a 10 degree morning to do it.

All around, awesome pack, though.

I used this jacket as an insulating layer on a trip to Mt. Washington, NH. It was great as an outer layer over a polypro base layer for climbing during the day at about 15 degrees F and as an insulating layer at camp when the temps dropped toward zero.
