  • Bio:

I'm Kyle. I happen to be livin it up here in Utah, one of the best places for outdoor goodness. In the winter you'll find me shredding up the slopes on my snowboard. When the summer rolls around I'll be out hiking, camping and climbing. I'm pretty excited to get into cycling this summer as well. I love good functional gear. You won't get any fluff from this guy unless it's a pow splash to the face.

Bossy

Never Summer Proto CT Snowboard

Never Summer Proto CT Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 April 7, 2012

I've heard loads of hype regarding Never Summer boards but never had any personal experience with them tell I took out this "Damn fine shred machine" as some would say. The camber profile on this board is technical but also can be enjoyed by less advanced riders. Definitely has a ton of pop and is super lively yet forgiving. The top sheet sheds snow like a friggin Boss and the Tri Radial side cut gives you some extra grip but doesn't over grip like magne traction can feel like. One of the most impressive boards I have ever set foot on. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Ride Alpha MVMNT Snowboard Binding

Ride Alpha MVMNT Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 2 March 7, 2012

I tried these out recently. I didn't like the baseplate on these older versions. The newer ride version has been updated and is much better. This binding is responsive and low profile but not a great park binding obviously.

Burton Prophecy Re:Flex Snowboard Binding

Burton Prophecy Re:Flex Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 3 February 11, 2012

At first I was super stoked about these bindings. They are a bit stiffer at about a 6 like they say. I really liked the Re:Flex technology. They have a super awesome flex for bigger guys or bigger lines. The toe cap and ankle straps were pretty sick too. My biggest complaint with this binding was the friggin adjust ability or lack there of. The burton strap adjustment jumps in too big of gaps. One was too long and the next screw adjust was too short not letting me dial in my fit. The ratchets work great so long as your ladders dont get munched up. If they get chipped or stripped a bit you'lll want to swap those out.

Gibbon Slacklines Classic Slackline

November 5, 2011

Slacklining is basically tight rope walking on a flat nylon ribbon that is strung between two points. If he is into parkour and wants to start "tricking" or bouncing off the line doing fun things, he may want to get the gibbons Jibline. It has more bounce in it and favors that style.

A traditional version still great but less bouncy would be the Gibbons classic.

Basically the difference is that the Jibline (first option) is 5mm wider and has more bounce to it for the tricks.
Below is a link to a video of some pretty darn impressive tricking on a slackline.

Nikwax Tech Wash

Nikwax Tech Wash

Rating for this product: 5 February 12, 2011

I am very impressed with how well these Nikwax products work. I used the TX Direct spray on in conjunction with the Tech Wash here and it literally transformed the material on my jacket. My 2 year old jacket has had it pretty rough. The material felt coarse and had some fuzziness to the fibers from being flogged so hard. After washing it the material felt smooth and supple again. Very impressed with this product.

Wow! I can't believe how this revived my snowboard jacket. I chose to buy new boots before a new jacket so I've been rockin a 2 year old beat to hell Foursquare jacket. This stuff really worked well. Noticed a huge difference the next day out. The material on my jacket felt smooth and new again!

Bern Baker Hard Hat Audio w/Knit Liner

February 2, 2011

Dragon Rogues or the Smith Phenom goggles . The Quicksilver Q2 is way dope too. They're on Dogfunk.com if not on BC. Basically most goggles look great with this helmet. Make sure that the goggles are helmet compatible. Look for some that have the pieces on the outside of the goggles that can flare out to fit a helmet like on the dragon or oakley goggles.

Good lookin protection

Bern Baker Hard Hat Audio w/Knit Liner

Bern Baker Hard Hat Audio w/Knit Liner

Rating for this product: 5 January 12, 2011

Bern is the Original visor brim helmet. These guys know whats up. This helmet is super comfortable and breathable. It fits really well all around and hugs your head real nice to stay in place. The audio liner is legit, you can bump some pretty heavy beats with no problems. They also have a sweet audio cable system that you can unplug from the liner. Super easy to replace if you short it out or rip it in half performing full scorpion. These helmets are "Hardhats" so they're good for numerous impacts without sacrificing protection. Many helmets out there aren't meant to be used after a significant impact. My old Bern Backer took way more impacts than I can count. Only complaint is that I broke the audio cable somehow when I crashed. But Bern is sending me a new one.
