The North Face Meru Paclite Jacket - Men's

April 9, 2010

the zippers are reverse coil, however lack the urethane coating that makes them water tight. I would be interested to see how they hold up in a downpour.

The North Face Heathen Jacket - Men's

The North Face Heathen Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2009

I would fall into the category of critic when it comes to north face. However Summit Series gear is supreme stuff. I got this jacket a few months ago and I have been thoroughly impressed with it. It has everything you need in an alpine shell and nothing else. One of the best features is the weight. Another thing that surprised me was the zipper lamination, as far as I'm concerned North face does one of the best zipper lams on the market. This may not be the best jacket in the world, but for the price you can't argue its a keeper!

Arc'teryx Alpha SL Jacket - Men's

February 9, 2009

You can - although this jacket is billed as a lightweight rain jacket. Paclite is the most breathable gore-tex but pro and performance shells are more durable.------------------------------------------I have used this for downhill skiing in ALL kinds of conditions. It works flawlessly as long as you know how to layer well.-------------------------------------------------------------------- Key correction: paclite is not the most breathable gore-tex. Pro shell is the most breathable. Paclite is laminated with Teflon on the inside, which clogs some of the gore-tex pores making it a little less breathable than pro shell. The Arc'teryx rep told me this so I'll take his word. I hope this helps.
