Maui Jim Moana HCL Bronze

Maui Jim Moana Sunglasses - Polarized

Maui Jim Moana Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 4 February 10, 2009

I purchased these sunglasses after having owned several pairs of Maui Jim's in the past. I have a big head and face, and these lenses are large enough to cover my entire eye area. The Moana's provide good side protection as well, sort of like my Breakwater's and Hurricane's. Moana's have the Titanium flexon frames which are very durable. When I wear these glasses they remind me of the movie Men in Black. They are pretty lightweight and can be worn all day with no discomfort or pressure points. My eyes are a little sensitive to sunlight and these glasses do a good job of solving that issue, without sacrificing looks, or build quality. The price is higher than most, but well worth it in my opinion. I would recommend these sunglasses to anyone who has a large shaped face. The eye size on the Maui Jim web site is 64 which means it's one of Maui Jim's bigger lenses.

Maui Jim Hurricane's

Maui Jim Hurricane Sunglasses

Maui Jim Hurricane Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 1 February 10, 2009

I loved how the lenses wrapped around to provide excellent eye protection even on the sides. These sunglasses are lightweight and keep things from blowing into your eyes as they are built sort of like shields. The one thing that I do not like about these sunglasses is the material that the temples are made of. This material is called Grilamid TR90. My Hurricane's broke close to where the temple piece attaches to the lens. I mailed them to Maui Jim and they fixed them and sent them back within a week. After having them repaired they lasted about two months when they broke at the same place but on the opposite side. I then had them fixed by Maui Jim again. After that they ended up breaking again and I never sent them back in to be repaired because I was sick of dealing with this issue on these particular sunglasses. I would not recommend this particular model. For that fact I would not recommend any Maui Jim model's that incorporate the Grilamid TR90 material. Overall these sunglasses have been a major disappointment. I have also owned the Breakwater's and these had the same problems as the Hurricane's. However, the person at the store where I purchased the Hurricane's assured me that Maui Jim had fixed this problem and thus convinced me to give the Hurricane's a try. If you really want a pair of Maui Jim's then I suggest looking at the Flexon, Titanium, or HT series rather than any of the Sport series. Just stay away from the Grilamid TR90 frames.
