I love doing anything that can get me outdoors. In the winter it's all about skiing inbounds and backcountry and romping through the snow. During the summer I enjoy running races, biking up those mountains, and climbing when I have some free time. While I'm out there, I love to watch for birds! Saw a lazuli bunting while I was mtn. biking this summer--made my season!

Stoic Merino Bottom - 3/4-Length - Women's

Stoic Merino Bottom - 3/4-Length - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 28, 2010

Not many brands sell a 3/4 length bottom anymore, so I'm glad to see Stoic does! This winter so far I have been wearing these pants an embarrassing amount. I wear them to work under my work-pants (I work outside occasionally), under my running pants, skiing (solo or on extra cold days as an added layer), to bed, and just walking around my house. They are comfortable, have a great fit, and they're merino! I just wish I had gotten two pairs...

Everything I wanted...pretty much

Arc'teryx Stingray Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Stingray Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 28, 2010

I have been wanting this jacket for nearly a year, and I just got one! It is now my primary ski jacket and have used it several times already.

Pros (IMO):
-Awesome goretex, including tapped seams (even in sloshy, wet snow I was dry underneath)
-Great length and fits a slender form
-Hood is helmet compatible
-Large pockets (bigger than you would think for this coat)
-Powder skirt and pit zips
-All around quality (of course! It's Arcteryx!)

Cons:
-Cuffs are smaller than I was hoping. I'm not able to fit them over my gloves. Gloves must go over cuffs.
-On chilly days, it is hard to fit my face underneath my coat when I zip it all the way up.

Other than those things this is an awesome coat that I would definitely recommend. I plan on using it for backcountry travel as well. I imagine I'll have no problem fitting my beacon along with all my layers under the jacket.

The pants I've been looking for!

Mammut Mera Peak Pant -Women's

Mammut Mera Peak Pant -Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 13, 2010

I am extremely picky about ski pants, and these ones have pretty much all the features I've been looking for. They're great for backcountry skiing because the sides of the legs completely unzip to keep me cool while hiking. They are also super duper waterproof and have suspenders! (I even figured out how to answer to the call of nature in these pants without having the suspenders be a real problem with my other layers!)

I would definitely recommend ordering a size up. I originally ordered a size 2 (my usual size), and although I could put them on, they were too small. Now I have a size 4. I also have fairly long legs and these pants fit my legs! Yes! Told you, these were the pants I was looking for. I always pair my ski pants with Cloudveil's fleece shorts if I'm sitting on chairlifts all day.

Magnificent Mittens

DAKINE Camino Mitten - Women's

DAKINE Camino Mitten - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 13, 2010

I was a little wary of these mittens at first, but after skiing in them on a powder day, I was wary no more! Just like other reviews have said, these mittens are nice and plush on the inside without being too fluffy. They also do an excellent job keeping my hands warm. I wear a thumb brace when I ski, so there's not enough room for the liners, but I haven't felt that I have REALLY needed the liners yet. One thing that I really like about these gloves is that the cinch cord is underneath the cuff. It works nicely and it doesn't look as dorky when you wear the gauntlet part of the glove on the outside of your jacket. Good job Dakine!
