Salomon Gun Ski
March 31, 2009
The gun is softer then the s5 and a much better powder ski, The only prob. is that they do not hold an edge on the groomers nearly as well as the s5 they chatter all over the place because of the lack of wood in the core. If you loved the s5 get them, or try the 4frnt vct you would like them even better and I think they ski kind of like the s5.

First of all I would not listen to anything a shop guy says, 99% of them don't know what there talking about. I would go 1 to 2 cm. back from tru center of the ski to avoid the wheely efect no matter how you ski them thats where they ride the best.

Line Chronic Alpine Ski
March 13, 2009
I would go 171, your fairly light and the chronic is a bit on the stiffer side of a park ski, you will get a couple of years on them even if you grow, and a 171 will be better for you in the park.

I'm not sure what you mean by off camber, but they have just a slight camber to them with no early rise or rocker, after about 40 days on my pair the camber is just about gone and they have softened up some but they seem to ski better and better every time out. and we just got 9' of powder in the last 3 days so the bacons will being in heaven.

March 4, 2009
I have never heard of delam problems with this years or last years bacons, I did hear about some minor problems with the 06-07 model year the first year they came out, but since then they extended the core more into the tip and fixed that problem, I have this years and have put tons of hours on them skiing them very hard and don,t even have any top chips in them, they have held-up better then any ski I have ever owened, the bases are so strong, I have landed on rocks doing pillow lines and drops fully expecting edge blowouts and have just small surface scratches on them, so far no problems.

The lord is 3 times stiffer then the anthem, its like a 2x4. You think the anthem is stiff, it is one of the softer park skis. If you want a real soft park ski for back country use the line elizebeth is it, but you may think it's to wide for you but it's what your looking for.

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski
March 2, 2009
If you are looking for a real powder ski I would go a lot wider then the goats, At least 110 to 120 in the waist, and at that size they will still rip the groomers. Kantana, pontoons, EHP, motherships, prophet 130, ARG, all are great powder skis that will blow the goat,s away in powder.

The ar6's are excellent all-mountain skis, The only reason to get the ARV over the AR6 is if you ski a little more powder or like a little bit fatter/softer ski in the park, but both are great skis.

The ar6 will give you the best park performance, the prophet 90 the best groomer performence but a little stiff for park and the blend the best powder performence but skiswell on the groomers, My son who is the exact same size as you skis the ar6 in 171cm everywhere and rips on them, even backcountry jibbing in 2 feet of powder, i would go ar6 or blend.

Armada Pipe Cleaner Alpine Ski
February 18, 2009
The pipe cleaner is the ar6 but with a stiffer tail and softer but faster race base, I wouldn't choose either as bump ski's not all that quick of a ski, my son who is 5'-5" and 145lbs skis the ar6 in 171 so you might try the 176 or 181. The ar6 are very fun on groomers, but the tail being stiffer on the pipecleaner has makes it less versatile then the ar6.

Armada Alpha 1 Alpine Ski
February 14, 2009
I agree with you, i can't understand why the obseth is so heavy, i know it is bullet prof, but i would be so much funnier if it was lighter, but that weight helps in the crud. The only complaint i hear about the bacon is just what your saying that it has to much sidecut for being so fat of a powder ski it does have a certain feel that you have to get used to and is very different then a traditional ski. I have mine at +3 from midsole and weigh 175, if i stay centered right over my boot and drive them they carve insane, almost as good as any gs ski i have skied, they just arch and pop out of turns, in powder i do have to lean back slightly but they float unreal, they are one of those skis that you love em or struggle just trying to figure them out. I'm suprised it's so bad up there we have gotten over 7 feet in the sierras just this last week. have fun .

K2 Apache Coomba Alpine Ski
February 14, 2009
It is a fun ski, but totally different type of ski then the bacon, its a flat tail directional energetic big mountainski, where as the bacon is a backcountry jib/powder ski, if you like the obseth you would like the coomba, kinda same feel for someone who likes a traditional ski. If i didn't just ride twins i would own a pair.

February 14, 2009
I have skied them and i was not impresed with them on groomers, they skied no better then the ar6 or arv, they buttered easy and had a lot of pop but they skied no better on groomers, I would not really consider the obseth a rockered ski it's so slight that it does not make all that much difference, have you skied the line bacon? it skies the groomers and powder better then the obseth with no rocker, just slight camber, if you want to see a how a tru rockered ski is suppose to ski try the hellbents, thats what they sould do with the obseth then it would truly rip. No offense but after riding the obseth i thought it was way over rated, just another over hyped ski because of the person who designed and rides it, sorry.

Marker Griffon Ski Binding
February 11, 2009
The Jester definitely will last longer, but the plastic heel of the Griffon is not going to be a problem. I personally would spend the extra for the longer lasting binding. Either way you won't be disappointed. Its not the heel you have to worry about on the griffon, its the toe piece that has been breaking, I use px 14's on my bacon's and love them.

I just answered this yesterday, but maybe some volkl lover got rid of it, Yes volkl has had some major quility issues in the last 2 years on the katana, goat, wall and some other models. delaminating cores, snapping on minor drops, binding pullouts, they tried to go with a lighter core and it has not worked to well, there are to many other good skis out there then to chance buying these.
