Montrail Mountain Masochist Trail Running Shoe - Women's
June 14, 2010
Write your question here...I tried on the men's montrail masochist and loved how wide the toe was but the heel was narrow. I felt like the shoe wrapped my foot well, giving my toes room without slipping to the toe on the downhill. Unfortunately, the men's shoe doesn't come in a small enough size for my foot. How does the width of the women's shoe compare to the men's?

Montrail AT Plus Hiking Shoe - Men's
June 5, 2010
I do a lot of month long backpacking trips and have always preferred low hikers. Most of my trips are in California and Colorado where the terrain is dry and rocky. No need for gortex, I find that it holds water in longer than it takes wet shoes to dry. I also have a pretty wide foot. For running shoes, I always buy a mens shoe because it's wide than a womens. I also mildly pronate. I generally also have to look for shoes that have a wider than normal toe box. I tried on a pair of Montrail Masochist at a store today and fell in love! I loved the stability, the wide toe box and yet super snug heelI prefer a lighter shoes to hike in with a thicker-than-running-shoe sole for the rocky terrain I tackle. Last summer I hiked in a pair of Vasque Breeze low hikers and hated them. There was a seam that ran along my pinky toe that bruised the crap out of my foot, so much so I trashed them on my way down from Mt. Whitney and hiked in Crocs. Could this be my hiking shoes this summer?
