Need some work on quality

Burton Power Stretch Liner - Men's

Burton Power Stretch Liner - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 November 21, 2010

I went through two pairs of these last season. I really like the feel and fit of the glove. The coating on the palm is super gripy, which is a nice feature, but the overall quality of the glove just isn't there. I used the liners for backcountry touring, and driving. On both pairs the stitching came apart on the thumb and first two fingers after about a month of use. If you want a pair of liners that you will only use occasionally, these would work great. If you are looking for a quality liner to use for skinning or daily driving I would pass on this liner because it will fall apart.

Primus Commuter Mug

Primus Commuter Mug

Rating for this product: 5 November 18, 2010

Great mug. I bought this last week and have used it pretty much everyday. I've had it in a pack deer hunting, fishing, and backcountry snowboarding. Doesn't leak at all and keeps your drink warm for hours. Be sure not to overfill past the fill line and you have to make sure the lid is open when you screw it on. Once screwed on, push the button to close and dump the little bit of liquid that got trapped in the lid into the sink...if you do that guaranteed no leaks. Great mug bought one for my girlfriend and would highly recommend. Be sure to get the screw top and not the pop top!

Arc'teryx Regent Cardigan Sweater - Men's

Arc'teryx Regent Cardigan Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 5, 2010

This is a great sweater. Don't pay attention to the reviews that say otherwise. If you don't want to look like a gaper by wearing a performance shell or fleece when you actually put on some causal dress cloths, this sweater is the way to go. This is supposed to be your top layer so yes it's made out of a coarser wool...and yes if you live in the mountains where the air is dry along with your skin, if you just have a tshirt under it, a heavier wool is going to be itchy...it's wool. I usually wear it with a collar shirt and jeans...sometimes even a tie. So if you're buying this product for what it's supposed to be, you will love it. Great quality and the standard arteryx trim/athletic fit. Nice cardigan for those rare dinner dates or family visits.

Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding - 09/10

Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding - 09/10

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2010

Great bindings. I started the season with two pairs of cartels. A set of 09's and an older set. The baseplate on the older pair blew up and burton replaced with a set of 10's no questions asked. The new ones are sweet. Improvements were made on the baseplate cushion and I love the way the straps feel. Cartels are definitely my favorite binders for all mountain riding and you can't beat the lifetime warranty on the baseplates...1 yr on everything else. Definitely will continue to purchase in the future and recommend to buddies.

Electric EG1s Goggle

Electric EG1s Goggle

Rating for this product: 4 February 16, 2010

I gave the kelly green EG1s a try since I was tired of seeing Anon everywhere on the mountain. The electrics are sweet. They have a great fit with my bern watts helmet and the color really pops. The bronze/silver chrome lens kills it on bluebird and partly cloudy days, but totally sucks in flat light and pow..as indicated on electric's site. These goggles are huge so be careful if you have a small face or try on a pair first before buying...i would say they are comparable to the smith prodigies in size. Love these goggles and would definitely recommend to a buddy.

Backcountry Access Chugach Pro EXT Shovel

Backcountry Access Chugach Pro EXT Shovel

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2010

This shovel is great. I got it because wanted a shovel with a huge blade and a ton of extension. It definitely covers both those needs. It moves a ton of snow fast, it's strong, and the extra extension is great for your back. I would definitely recommend something else if you travel light or are just riding resort slackcountry. If you don't care about the weight or height in your pack and want a rugged shovel that will dig your buddy out fast, this is for you.

Backcountry.com Dawn Patrol Vaccuum Coffee Tumbler - 3-Pack

December 10, 2009

So what's the deal with these? Between the reviews for the single or the three pack it sounds like people love it or hate it. With that said I have two questions. Does it leak if not overfilled and tightened properly? Does it really keep the liquid hot for atleast 3 hours? I want to be able to throw this in my pack and not worry about a spill, so I'm looking for an answer from someone who has been using this on the mountain or in the backcountry.

Thanks Angus, that's just the answer I was looking for.

Never Summer Premier F1-R Snowboard

Never Summer Premier F1-R Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2009

This ride is amazing! I got the F1 Premier at the end of last season and wish I would have picked it up earlier. The board rides so smooth whether your bombing steeps or dodging trees. I'm 5-10 and ride the 161. The 61 is my preferred size for an all mountain board. It handles great on all terrain and it's not too big to throw around in the air every now and then. It's a great ride, has a three year warranty, and it's made in the USA...what else can you ask for in a board. I love this board and will definitely continue to buy NS boards in the future...sorry burton.

Burton Softshell Hooded Jacket - Men's - 09/10

Burton Softshell Hooded Jacket - Men's - 09/10

Rating for this product: 3 November 12, 2009

Cozy jacket. I purchased this last season on super sale from the local shop. Turned out to be a nice coat. It's got great style and fit. Usually wore it as a base layer which had just the right amount of protection to strip down to when hiking and touring. Also works good as a top layer when warmer like the product description says. Only thing missing, which is kind of key when wearing it as a top layer, is the powder skirt. Only other complaint is it's not made in the USA...bangladesh, but good luck finding any gear that's not made over seas! Nice jacket but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's on sale.

Bern Watts Hard Hat Helmet w/Knit Liner

Bern Watts Hard Hat Helmet w/Knit Liner

Rating for this product: 4 November 10, 2009

This review would have been a loved it but the audio system failed on my helmet as well. The audio worked from December until the last week of March. I rode almost everyday last season and always had this bucket on. The helmet has a great fit and the liner covers up the gaper gap between your goggs and helmet perfectly so no frozen forehead. The liner also keeps you nice and toasty so no need for a beanie. Great helmet and would recommend to buddies....just don't be sold because of the built in audio...it will fail.

Black Diamond Bipod Bivy Bag

Rating for this product: 5 September 14, 2009

Love this bivy. Zero set up time (just unroll it and throw it on the ground) and great protection. The mesh bug screen is nice and the opening is a good size to get in and out of. I'm 5-9 and have no trouble with room in this guy. I can even throw my pack in at the top if my feet are all the way at the bottom. It definitely keeps you warm too. Great Shovel, Sucky Probe

Backcountry Access Tour Shovel System - Extendable

Backcountry Access Tour Shovel System - Extendable

Rating for this product: 3 June 23, 2009

This shovel is definitely a good buy. It's sturdy and efficient. I haven't had to rescue a friend with it thankfully, but it worked great on all exercises and practice rescues in the avalanche safety course I took this year. The probe however sucks. It's small diameter and only 6' long. It takes forever to put together since it doesn't autolock and has to be screwed together...even with practice and 6' just isn't long enough. If my buddy has a probe this short, I'll let him carry my Black Diamond 300 in his pack...and I'll carry the six footer. Great shovel, but buy a real probe!

Burton Wheelie Board Case

I've put this bag through every thing from multiple luggage checks to cross country trips strapped to the top of the car and it's held up great. You can pack everything you need for an entire trip in it but with new weight limits for the checked baggage you get screwed with additional fees. It is also a great place to stow away all your gear for the summer. Love it and definitely would recommend it to a buddy.

Burton AK 15L Backpack

Burton AK 15L Backpack

Rating for this product: 4 June 21, 2009

I purchased this pack for this last season. It worked out nice. It carries all the necessities well (probe, shovel, water bladder, first aid kit) but there's not to much room for more than a couple extra layers left. Super comfortable when your board is strapped on the back. Of course the AK construction is incredibly durable and held up well through an abusive season! If you like to travel light, this is the back for you...if not definitely go with something that offers more volume.

Red Impact Vest - Men's

June 20, 2009

It looks like a vest on both sides. Black on front and back, and white on the sides. You access the pads from the inside so they're covered by fabric on the outside. The outline of the pads can kind of be seen but it's pretty inconspicuous. You can wear the vest in the bar after riding and not look like you're dressed for halloween. Yakima Big PowderHound Snow Roof Rack DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 June 20, 2009

This rack works great. I have a ford escape with the standard luggage bars on top. The rack fit perfectly and is super easy to install and remove. Had 2 boards and 1 pair of skis almost everyday. The clips/buttons pop right up which makes it quick to load and remove gear. I purchased the locks which can freeze up making it hard to get a key in. Since montana rocks, I never had to lock up my gear so this wasn't really a problem for me. If your driving multiple broke bum buddies to the mountain, this is a great choice.

Mammut Tusk Climbing Rope - 9.8mm

Rating for this product: 4 June 8, 2009

Mammut did an excellent job with this rope. Its light weight, stays dry, and is extremely durable. Ive been using this rope about 2/3 times a week for the last two months sport climbing and it has held up great. I bought the 70m and despite the tech specs saying no center mark, there is definitely a center mark distinguished by a darker green color. Prior to this rope, I had been using a mammut 10.2mm. I like the 9.8mm thickness better and will probably continue to purchase the smaller diameter ropes.

Rating for this product: 4 April 14, 2009

I picked these boots up after riding the ions for the first half of the season. Ions were just a little to stiff for my comfort. The XIII's definitely are the most comfortable boot I've ridden! They provide enough support but are still plush and cozy to ride all day every day. However, after 10 days the rubber toe started to peel off the front a little. I continued to ride these boots 40+ times this year and they are still killing it with out any other quality defects. Haven't put the Ions back on since!

Picked up a divide (regular not the wide) and love it! Im 5-10, 155lbs and have been riding a 161cm. It handles great in the deep backcountry powder and super responsive through the trees, but is a little cumbersome on the groomers if your accessing backcountry from a resort. I set it up with sparks ignition II binders instead of the voile system and couldn't be happier. Switching from touring to riding is painless and the binders feel great on the board.

Arc'teryx Bora 65 Backpack - 3720-4330cu in

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2009

I snatched up the bora 65 four years ago and still love it! i've used the pack for pretty much everything...from traveling overseas to a day pack for rock climbing. You can load it up heavy and the super plush hip belt transfers all the load with easy. That pack has a great fit and you won't be sorry on long hikes. I was going to purchase the bora 80, but i'm glad i went with the 65 instead. The material and quality of the pack is bomb proof and I haven't had any issues after 4 years of abuse and multiple luggage checks at airports! The pack is pretty pricey, but you won't ever need to buy another one. my tag says made in canada...but I think the new ones are being made in the phillipines.

Red Impact Vest - Men's

I picked up this vest for a little extra protection. It fits extremely well and you can't really notice you are wearing an impact vest. I did have to remove the bottom pad since it was pushing on my belt line but after that was removed it fits and feels great. I agree with the other review that if you are wearing a beacon this vest doesn't have a high enough collar and the strap will rub on your neck. I've worn mine every time out since I've purchased it. Good buy.
