Not really a hiking shoe

Chaco Redrock Mesh Hiking Shoe - Men's

Chaco Redrock Mesh Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 April 20, 2009

I put about 300 miles on my redrock shoes before giving them up for some legit trekking boots for long trips and trail runners for short trips. Further more, these are not water proof which I ignored while purchasing.

Plusesarch support out there. This shoe is only for very light short hikes on smooth terrain. Also great for walking around/street. Feet remain cool with the mesh construction.

Cons:
Sole is too soft and gets softer with time. If the ground below is rocky then the sole deforms too much and hurts the foot.
Unsuitable for backpacking. If you are going to carry a pack on your back and head out, there is zero sole rigidity.

Decent boot

Scarpa Kailash GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Scarpa Kailash GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 20, 2009

I used these for about three months and have a 100 miles or so on the boots. These took 15 miles to properly break in.

They are NARROW, so get a while size bigger to accommodate for feet swelling and socks and narrowness. I usually wear a 10-10.5 and got a 11.5. The sole is strong and uneven terrain doesn't hurt my foot. I wouldn't recommend this boot though. If the bigger size means not slippage of the foot in the shoe, then that will result in blisters from friction. Pick another boot if you are interested in using a shoe for a lot of backpacking.

Almost fair.

Oakley Mag Four Sunglasses

The nasal bridge is too narrow. Might be good if you have a thin bridge. I don't have a fat bridge and these sit in front of my face (not snug). It is quite obvious the coverage on these are not as good as glasses that have more curved lenses.
Since the finish on these glasses is mirrored, NEVER leave them idle near any surface that may scratch them, I scratched my pair by not putting them in the carrying bag. Once scratched the coolness of the 'plasma fire' makes it look like some cheap knockoff.

Also agree with Johnny Hudson's review although it isn't plastic, but magnesium :) Not that the frame material matters to me.

An ashphalt hiking shoe

Chaco Redrock Mesh Hiking Shoe - Men's

Chaco Redrock Mesh Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 April 20, 2009

If you want a proper hiking shoe, this is definitely not it. This chaco's sole is far too soft and is a light-hiking shoe where the terrain is smooth. It offers no protection from the ground below. So if there are rocks and other sharp objects below, it will hurt the foot.
Not a bad casual shoe for around town. The solves are soft and comfortable for walking around. If you are interested in hiking, there are tonnes of better options at less cost. I moved on from this shoe after about 200 miles.

Scarpa Kailash GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

April 15, 2009

If you plan on stepping in knee deep water, then don't get any GTX boots unless they are knee high. heh. Once GTX boots get wet, they take a long time to dry.

The pullover is very comfortable. Much softer than I thought it would be and it is warrn. Quite stylish except for the oddly placed prana signage.

Very good pro shell

Marmot Alpinist Jacket - Men's

Marmot Alpinist Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 12, 2009

It is a very very well constructed jacket and breathable. I haven't tested it out every winter condition, but so far it seems great. Good for slim people. I find the chest pockets a bit odd. Would have liked it to be a little lower and towards the outside just in case I want to warm/rest my hands.

I usually fit well into an XL, but this XL was massive. Had to get a large which is snug.

Super light, good fit shell

Arc'teryx Beta SL Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Beta SL Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 4, 2009

I don't go hiking without it any more. The jackets folds into nothing and can fit into a cargo pocket in the pant. If it gets really cold outside, less than 20F (with wind), then I need to layer properly. The pac-lite isn't as breathable as the gore tex pro-shell.

Styling wise ARc'Teryx is hard to beat. The extra cost comes in for the water proof pockets/zips, which is soooo worth it. I can walk around with my phone, wallet, electronic keys on my pocket in the rain. Have used it for snow tubing and it worked wonderfully.

Best a man can buy!

Under Armour Boxer Jock - Men's

Under Armour Boxer Jock - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 4, 2009

I have at least a dozen brands of boxer briefs and the UA boxer briefs are the best. If I do any outdoor activity that involves sweating or 'friction', then I only wear the UA breifs. Chaffing free, dry and they look great. It is like a second skin, perpetually friction free.

Never go back to cotton!
