Was hoping for the perfect pack

Arc'teryx Arrakis 65 Backpack - 4210-4576cu in

I was hoping that this would be the best pack ever. It is not. The only thing this pack does well is water resistance. It has no lash straps. No real way to cinch down. It is bulky and awkward and very difficult to pack. The best thing about this pack was the outstanding customer service that backcountry.com provided when I returned it.

This pack is awful. I would not buy this pack. I spent 2 days out in the backcountry in Utah skiing and this pack just does not hold up. If you are looking for an awesome pack check out the Black Diamond Anarchist. It is bomber proof.

Awesome!!

Black Diamond Anarchist with Avalung Winter Pack - 1953-2563 cu in

Black Diamond Anarchist with Avalung Winter Pack - 1953-2563 cu in

This pack is excellent. Caries the stuff you need to be safe in the backcountry. Plus has plenty of room for extra clothes and first aid kit etc... Bomber proof construction. The avalung is a nice feature that hopefully i will never have to see if it works in real time. This pack carries skis well when bootpacking. I think this pack is a bit too small to carry the stuff you need for overnights especially if your need to carry a stove, fuel and warm sleeping bag. But for its design as an awesome full day ski touring pack I have not found better.
