#1 Jacket

Marmot Sharp Point Softshell Jacket - Men's

Marmot Sharp Point Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 26, 2009

I live in Flagstaff, AZ where the weather will turn on you in a blink of an eye. This jacket does it all from completely blocking the wind to keeping you dry in light rain. It has a good look to it and I rock it down town all the time. I am 5'8" and about 175 lbs and the large fits well. It seems that the sizing is all over the board but I think that the large fits me well because I have a long torso and broad shoulders. I get a little bag in the arms but it gives me the room to layer. I love all the features and think that the only down fall is the lacking of an exterior chest pocket but I think I'll live. I highly recommend this jacket if you are willing to pay the price. Great for the outdoors when you don't know what the weather will do.

These sandals have great arch and heel support. They are very comfortable for all day everyday wear. Highly recommend them, the support is great for your feet. They are a little heavy but you get used to them. I wear mine all the time. Buy Some!

Montrail Flow Hiking Shoe - Men's

Montrail Flow Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 20, 2009

So far so good. I picked up these shoes about 2 weeks ago and they haven't left my feet since I got them. Haven't hit the trail running to much with them but have done some light hiking and they are super comfortable and I wear them all day without getting sore feet. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an all-around shoe for on or off the trail. They seem to be pretty true to size too, I wear a 9.5 and I got a 10 just for a little extra toe room. Try them out!!

good knife

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

Rating for this product: 4 April 13, 2009

Just need to do your homework...the reason this knife is getting a bad overall rating is because some people didn't do their homework. There are 3 models of the Flash II. 2 have the aluminum handle and the third and cheapest has the zytel scratch and impact resistance plastic handle. All 3 knives have the AUS 8 steel, which in the grand scheme of things is good steel and holds an edge well. You just need to pay attention to which model you are getting so you know what to expect out of the box. I have the zytel model from SAC and I have been pretty happy with it so far. Its a little stiff out of the box but plenty sharp, just need a little breaking in. I don't mind the plastic handle because it really cuts down the weight of the knife. In my opinion, 4 stars, great knife for the price, good quality (made in USA) just not the best on the market. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a quality knife for daily or camping use.

Great Bag

Sierra Designs Trade Wind Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Sierra Designs Trade Wind Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 March 18, 2009

I have an SD tent that was a best buy for me. I figured their sleeping bags were just as good. They proved me right, this bag is solid. I recently spent 4 strait nights in 29 degree weather and slept like a baby. The material on the inside is comfy, and the outside is pretty tough especially with the Drizone water proofing. The bag only got 4 stars because I seem to have trouble with the zipper. The zipper is reinforced but catches and has some trouble smoothly zipping all the way up. Besides the zipper trouble the draft tube is excellent, the bag is roomy and I would highly recommend it to anyone who need a good 3 season bag. Did i mention the Drizone water proofing? Good for protecting the down.

Love my M.U.L.E.

CamelBak M.U.L.E. Hydration Pack -3L

CamelBak M.U.L.E. Hydration Pack -3L

Rating for this product: 4 February 17, 2009

I gave this pack 4 stars because I wish the main pocket was just a little bigger. But, I have used this pack a lot and it is a great day trip bag. Over last summer I worked for a conservation corps and I used this pack for my chain saw bag. The MULE held my saw accessories,3L of water, a small first aid, a small lunch and some snacks. This bag is tough and I highly reccomend it!

Outdoor Research Exit Jacket - Men's

Outdoor Research Exit Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 16, 2009

Just picked up this jacket because I am becoming an OR fanatic and I am really happy with it. I bought it as an insulating layer with my OR Motto jacket and it works beautifully. I am 5'8" and 185 lbs and the medium fits like a charm. It is warm and is very easy to move around in. Also looks pretty snazzy around town. Highly recommend this jacket.

Outdoor Research Crystal Jacket - Women's

Outdoor Research Crystal Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 16, 2009

I bought this jacket for my girlfriend because the price was right. We live in Flagstaff, Az where the wind can really ruin your day especially in the winter. She is 5'1" and 105lbs and the small fit her really well. I now hardly see her without it. I definitely recommend this jacket to anyone, especially if they are easily chilled by the wind.

Awesome Pack

Gregory Z 35-R Backpack - 1890-2380cu in

Gregory Z 35-R Backpack - 1890-2380cu in

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2009

I have had this pack for about 8 months now and it is great. The first 3 months of owning it I was doing conservation work in Flagstaff, AZ. I put the pack through hell. Because I was a sawer the pack was always holding 3L of water, all of my saw accessories, work tools, lunch, and a first aid kit. It was probably about 35lbs in it at all times if not a little more. Anyways it made it with only one rip from one of the teeth on my saw, hardly a defect. All in all, I Highly recommend this fast and light day pack.

Great buy

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Rating for this product: 4 January 30, 2009

If your like me and you car camp and backpack the GCS is perfect. It is compact enough for your backpack on a 5 day trip, but functional enough to cook more then just water in it. The only problem I have had, is the automatic igniter. First of all, I don't know why you need one, I always have matches or something on me anyways. The best thing about this stove is that the heat adjustment is very fine which allows you to simmer foods. perfect for some camping stir fry. I highly recommend this system, it beats out a lot of competitors and is tough too.

This Jacket is the S*&#!!!

Outdoor Research Motto Jacket - Men's

Outdoor Research Motto Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 29, 2009

I just got this jacket and I love everything about it. The waterproofness is lagit. Water doesn't even have a chance on getting into this jacket. Everything about this jacket is functional: removable powder skirt, removable hood, butt pocket for storage, fleece lining (big plus) and internal stash pocket. I am 5'8" and 185lbs, I got a large because I like to layer and the large for me give me that little extra room for other layers. Though, the price is up there, it is worth every penny. This jacket is not rated "windproof" but it cuts the wind pretty well. I am from Flagstaff, AZ and we have a lot of wind, 3 seasons out of 4, so that is a big plus. The warranty is solid for this jacket too. Get this jacket. you wont regret it.
