The North Face VaporWick Ruckus T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 12, 2009

Well I got this shirt for when going outdoors and working up a sweat, since its winter, I didn't really get to use it to its full potential(the wicking), however I can say that it feels softy and it's really comfortable and its really thin, well thinner than cotton shirts. The thing to watch out is how you treat the shirt, when washing, please follow the instructions, my mom washes it with other clothes(hot water wash followed by a dryer on high settings) and the next day, the label came right off, I don't blame the shirt as it's designed a certain way and needs special care but I really didn't expect the tag to come right off.
For lazy people, great shirt, comfy, looks good, performs good, cheap(for a performance shirt) but needs special care. AND please please don't scrub it with a brush for those who still do, this shirt will not survive.

Perfect shirt.

This is a perfect shirt for me, simple, looks great, has a awesome goat on the front, cheap, comfortable. I'm around 5'10" and I ordered a small and it's the perfect size for me and it's not that long as other people say, just look at the sizing chart and order accordingly, it's a bit longer than my other shirts, but not by a lot, just gotta fold it once, heck the shirt description even says it's not preshrunk and choose size accordingly. Cheap, comfy, looks great, you want more?

Awesome all weather jacket.

Columbia Carabineer Mountain II Parka - Men's

Columbia Carabineer Mountain II Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 12, 2009

Well, I bought the Carabiner 2008 version(got it on September for 167 bucks(, but they should around the same. Anyways the Waterproof Rating is 20K and the Breathable Rating is also 20k as stated on the jacket itself, on the inside right mesh pocket.

As for the product itself, the shell is a very thin layer that's excellent at blocking out wind and rain and is light enough to act as a windbreaker. It's thin enough to the point that on a windy day, even thought it totally blocks out the wind, the wind chill cuts right through the layer so you might wanna wear a longsleeve. The shell is basically a nylon outer layer with DWR with a inner waterproof layer of some sort all covered with mesh on the inside, the pockets open up right to the mesh so has great breathability.

The down layer by itself looks awesome, is partially waterproof(I put it under the showerhead and rained water on it, then I took a towel and wiped it off and it was totally dry, but probably won't stand to a prolonged shower) and is very warm. The down liner DOES NOT zip in, it's a snap in.

When you put the two layers together, the effect is phenomenal, I can wear the two layers from 50F to 20F(windchill takes that down to 7F) and be comfortable with only a T-Shirt underneath. However, do mind that this jacket is considered active fit or something which means it'll keep you warm as long as you stay moving in extreme cold like 10F, though I was starting to sweat a bit when walking at a fast pace in the jacket.I think this is the perfect jacket for those who wants a jacket that can function in all conditions, shell can be worn in the 50's 60's as a windbreaker and can be combined with the liner in colder weathers and yet be able to crunch them both up and stick em in your bag if need be. Also, if you're worried about your hands freezing, there's nothing to fear, even though the shell has no lining inside the pockets, as long as your hands are inside the down liner's sleeve and stick em into the shell's pocket, the down sleeve will keep your hand warm and cozy while the shell blocks off all wind that attempt to come in.
The jacket may be puffy when you first put it on, but after a while, it'll look better and you won't look like a stuffed turkey.

Oh, and to Jam, what do you wear under the shell-liner combination? I find those two adequate enough for anything up to 10F with only a T-Shirt, haven't got a chance to experience 0F in NYC yet.

Stylish Jacket

Columbia Carabiner Mountain Parka - Men's

Columbia Carabiner Mountain Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2009

I just recieved this jacket from UPS and I suppose I'll give a basic review of it.The outer shell is a very lightweight jacket and looks like a windbreaker but is totally waterproof, I looked at the tags and it said that the water resistance was 20k and so is the breathability, hopefully BC will fix it. Also, there are no underarm zips for the shell or the down layer. The shell has 5 pockets, 2 for the hands, one chest pocket on the outside and 2 mesh pockets in the inside. The insulation layer is a bit puffy as it is down and also has 5 pockets, 2 for the hands, one zippered pocket on the inside, and 2 mesh pockets. All in all, this is a very good 3in1 jacket, the outer shell is highly rain and wind resistant and can be worn in warm days as it is very light, and also can be worn with the down layer for super cold winter days, with my last jacket, I couldn't wear the shell or the inner layer on warm days because they're both too warm, I shouldn't have a problem with this product.

I tried it out and on that very day, a cloudburst appeared while I was transfering from a subway station to another and had to go outside, everyone else was totally soaked, their umbrellas, their hoodies, their jackets(including TNF), but the only thing that wasn't wet was me, the rain just beaded and bounced off of my jacket and I was the only dry one to come in the subway station, just kinda funny.

The North Face Amplitude Triclimate Jacket - Men's

January 27, 2009

Well, I've been going back and forth between Columbia's 3 in 1 jackets and TNF's Triclimates and it's the 270g microfleece vs the heatseeker insulants. I'm just curious on how warm the heatseeker insulant is compared to the 270 microfleece that Columbia offers on their Blade Run and Treeline Parkas. Assuming that all you wear is a T-Shirt underneath, what's the comfort zone of those jackets, the Amplitude, and if possible, the other 2 jackets/parkas. Thanks.
