Ryan Cobourn's Resort Skiing Gear 09-10
Created October 21, 2009
The gear I'd recommend for the 09-10 Rocky Mountain resort skiing season. Picked based on a combination of performance and appearance.
Spy Soldiers: Great fitting and great looking. These Vanular Signature Goggles are even more bling than the stock models. The only thing I would change is the lens, the bronze is way too dark for anything but full sun.
Look PX12 Wide Brake Binding: Solid 12 din binding with a consistent and snappy engagement. Don't throw these things off giant drops, but for in-bounds skiing, these can't be beat.
Rossignol B-Squad 90s: Intermediate boot with enough flex and adjustment to cover the whole mountain. They fit a wider foot so bear that in mind when ordering.
Smith Variant Brim: Lightweight, low-profile, close-able vents and good looks. What more can you ask for?
Norrona Lofoten Jacket: This jacket is incredible. It has a sky-high waterproof rating and looks sick. While the jacket is pricey, you will probably be the only person at the mountain wearing one.
Line Prophet 100s: These skis have a traditional camber and side-cut, but they're nice and fat at the waist. If you ski nothing but bottomless pow, look elsewhere. But if your powder runs end on groomers and the conditions are variable, you can't find a much better ski.- Helpful Votes: 3 Yes |

Ryan Cobourn's Texas Hill Country Camping
Created October 20, 2009
Whether you're going to float the Brazos or spend a weekend fishing at Colorado Bend, this is gear you should absolutely not go to Hill Country without.
A couple of additional tips. Don't forget to buy firewood, collecting is illegal in most Texas state parks. Bring plenty of hot links, tortillas, beer and a lot of ice. Don't get caught Hill Country without this stuff.- Helpful Votes: 2 Yes |
