Not worth Retail but still nice

Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 February 17, 2009

I was really excited to get this coat out on the slopes, unfortunatley my excitment soon turned to dissapoitment. In just four days wear two buttons from the snow skirt have broken off completly. I notified Cloudveil after the first button broke the moement I unpacked it a week ago and have not received a reply. As for actually preformance it works fairly well. It is definetly warm, there's no concern there. I had it out above 12,000 feet yesterday with windchills about -15 with only a thin base layer and was toasty! Two days earlier I was riding at about 8,000 feet with temps in the twenties and with pit zips open and a cotton tee it was great. I would hope to see the collar get a bit taller and more open in future models and also hope that the zipper cover gets larger and actually tucks over the top of the zipper. For almost four hundred dollare it seems the details were missed, but because I was able to get it for $214 I'm happy. Of course if Cloudveil never responds to my warrenty issues I probably won't buy their product again. For the money next time I think I'd try the Patagonia version.

Patagonia Capilene 1 Bottom - Men's

Patagonia Capilene 1 Bottom - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 17, 2009

Granted in temps below zero on the hill above 12,000 feet I'd opt for the 2, for any other time outdoors being active these are great for me. I actually like the gappping fly referred to earlier because it makes it easy to get out so to speak. When other guys are struggling in the lodge bathroom, your not. I would like a bit more cuff on the ankles but all in all I really appreciate this basee layer!

I never would have guessed this shirt could be so warm. It's fit is a bit strange at first bit after a minute I didn't notice and I can't believe how warm it is. Jogging last Saturday it was 45 and sunny and this was all I needed!

K2 Hellbent Alpine Ski

January 28, 2009

I'd been looking at the Rossi Koopman, Saloman Czar, & Obsethed but after a day skiing with a buddy sporting Hellbents I'm thinking of going fatter. I'm looking for a backcountry/resort bowls/touring setup and am planning on matching thses with marker barons. I weigh 150 and am 6', currently have head mojo 90 at 183cm and love them but want alot more float!

Rossignol S6 Koopman Alpine Ski

January 28, 2009

Funny I was leaning toward the czar. What don't you like? too Soft, too light for crud/ not enough float? Why do you like the K2? what/where are you skiing? Finally what kind of skier are you? I'm 6' 150#'s and enjoy steep technical terrain and spend lots of time in the trees and bumps between major dumps. i already have a Mojo 90 and a monster 77 for crusiers and hardpack bumps, now I want a powder/touring ski that can still provide a good time getting back to the front side of the resorts.

Rossignol S6 Koopman Alpine Ski

January 27, 2009

S6 Koopman, Saloman Czar, or K2 obSethed ? Primarily for six inches plus and touring, set with a marker baron. If I'm not in wide open boels of deep then it's trees and bumps.

Patagonia DAS Parka - Men's

January 24, 2009

Trying to find one do all coat for the slopes. Something warm enough for the below 0 mornings but stil comfortalbe when the sun comes out and the temperaturres climb. I ski lots of trees so I am also concerned with tearing. I've tried on the Cloud Veil Down Patrol and this Patagonia but can't figure out which will work best longest. i have found both for about $250.00 but am hoping someone else might have an opinion.
