Great Buds

Skullcandy Smokin' Bud Headphones

Skullcandy Smokin' Bud Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2009

For the price these little guys are awesome. They are small enough to wear comfortably under a hat in the winter or even under a helmet while skiing. They have pretty good sound quality and they come with three different size tips for any ear size. Super stoked on these, love skullcandy!

Unbelievable Sound

Skullcandy SK Pro DJ Headphones

Skullcandy SK Pro DJ Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2009

Overall:
These headphones are sick. I would recommend them to anyone willing to spend a decent amount of $$ for very high-quality headphones. And I mean Yellow and Baby Blue? It doesnt get more dope than that.

Performance:
The SKPROs are designed for professional DJs so they provide the listener with super high quality sound and wicked bass. My music has never sounded so good and their relatively light design makes watching movies feel like the best surround sound. The leather earpads and padded "headband" make them rediculously comfortable for the daily commute or chillin at home.

Design:
These headphones were designed to swivel and twist in all directions for studio monitoring or whatever DJs do but i find the extra swivel on these to be the best of any skullcandy headphone because they really hug your head and fold up nicely to put in you backpack. A bunch of people i know who had TIs and GIs had problems with the clips (that attach the headphone to the headband) breaking when they were folded up but with the SK it folds up quite compact with the head phones going all the way up into the head band which will protect them from breaking in my bag. I did miss the little volume dial on the cord but only a minor detail and i much prefer the super-long coiled wire to a longer straight wire that gets all tangled. Now the only other drawback is that these badboys weren't made for grinding rails or stomping cliff hucks so they aren't 100% secure on your head. As I sit here just shaking my head side to side pretty quick makes them move a little bit and if I lean my head all the way back they slip off. Again they are more for listening to music at home or on the road or watching movies wherever and less for sports performance although I'm sure putting them over a beanie might keep them on better. As for skiing I would recommend the Smokin Buds (I have them in rasta and theyre dope) or the Icon/Recruits (super light and won't fall off since they go over you head).

Value:
For $191 in Canada I almost choked in the store at how much they cost considering how much you can buy for 200 bucks. However for the quality of product I am quite happy with this investment because skullcandys have a lifetime warranty for defects and if I break em accidentally I get a new pair for 50% off...pretty good deal if you ask me.

Durability:
So far they have no scratches, cracks, cuts, problems at all and as I said before theyre design makes them more durable. I keep em in the included bag (sorta like a goggle condom for headphones) and theyre fine.

Quality:
As most people who know anything about headphones are aware, Skullcandy is one company all about style and performance. And as far as Skullcandy's headphones go the SKPRO is the king of the 08-09 lineup. These headphones were comfy, working perfect and lookin dope fresh out the box. Despite not being a pro DJ myself I think spending the extra cash on the SKPRO is money well spent if you enjoy a very high quality musical expierience (it helps if your music is good quality too). They come with an adapter for amps (6.3 mm adaptor for those who know what I'm talkin about) that screws on in like 3 seconds which is great if you need it and its also got a little bag and a little skull sticker.

Perfection

Giro 2008 G10 MX Helmet

Giro 2008 G10 MX Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2009

I've had the G10MX for two seasons now and although I use my steezier Shiv for park riding I always love rocking the G10. When I first saw my buddy with it I knew I HAD to get it. It's the ideal helmet: great protection, extremely comfortable, easy adjustable fit, secure goggle strap and it looks dope whether you're in the park, BC or just shredding groomers. Giro makes the best helmet in my opinion and this helmet is absolute perfection. The visor is useful and makes this helmet look way better than the regular visorless G10. Every goggle I have tried with this lid has fit perfectly and comfortably. Pick one up and you won't be dissappointed.

Super Solid

Armada AR6 Alpine Ski

Armada AR6 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2009

I picked up the AR6 this season because I was just starting out in park, though I was already a pretty good skier and wanted something that would be able to carve groomers without sketching out and still slay the park. The AR6 is an amazing ski, it has a very nice flex that is soft for butters and rail slaying but is very stable at high speed on groomers. The bases are fast and very tough, I beat them up on rails and boxes but they hardly have any scratches. The edges are also super strong and have held up very well to the punishment I dish out on them. These skis kill it just about everywhere though the mid-80 mm waist doesn't offer too much flotation they still are ok for the east coast pow that I get in Quebec. My only complaint was that the topsheets chip really easy but when I'm bailing in the park and on urban rails pretty much any ski will chip up like that and its purely an aesthetic issue anyways. An awesome ski for jibbing the park and buttering all over the mountain! Love 'em Armada

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2009

I picked up the Crowbars (matte white/black iridium) before the season and was super stoked to try them out. When the first ski day rolled around I slipped these over my helmet and was not disappointed. The outriggers, while looking slightly odd with a hat, offer the best fit over a helmet I have ever had. Whether I was rocking them over my Giro G10MX or under my Giro Shiv the goggles fit perfectly and the silicon kept them firmly in place. The goggles also offer you a great range of vision especially peripheral and the Black Iridium lens, not only is mirrored so it looks sick but is great for bluebird sun to overcast conditions. Now for night skiing the goggles made it easy to pop out the iridium and put in a clear crowbar lens that I bought extra. I loved how the goggles blended style, great vision, ZERO fogging and an awesome fit, perfect for an aggressive and avid skier like myself. Oakley has made some of the best products over the years and continues to do so while also creating newer and better innovative products.

Versatile Style plus Giro Safety

Giro 2008 Shiv Helmet

Giro 2008 Shiv Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 January 16, 2009

I picked up the Giro Shiv (Matte Black) at the beginning of the season because I wanted a lighter more "park" style helmet to compliment my G10 MX. Due to my great experience with the G10 I knew Giro would be the best choice for my second helmet and chose the new Shiv over the Encore 2 due to its slightly better safety, removable goggle clip and cooler design. The Shiv is a very versatile helmet, it has removable pads in different thicknesses to customize the fit and when removed there is no velcro on the inside of the helmet itself so if you like rocking a beanie underneath there is no velcro to rip it to shreds. The removable pads also worked great for wearing my goggles (Oakley Crowbars) underneath the helmet without them feeling uncomfortable, I liked having the earpads popped out for a little ventilation when I wore my beanie plus goggles underneath. On cold days there are little pads that block the vents to keep out the wind and even without a hat on the earpads are super warm, comfy and you can hear people talk! As a steezy newschool skier I loved the style of the helmet which enabled me to cover it with my collection of stickers while still ensuring me that if I knuckle the next jump or fall off a rail or just land on my head from some ice I have the safety of Giro backing me up. Overall a great product, as expected nothing but the best from Giro.

Solid Jacket

Oakley Terrain Jacket - Men's

Oakley Terrain Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2009

Got the Blazing Yellow jacket and its been absolutely awesome. I've recieved so many compliments on the ballin colour and the jacket is quite warm. I live in Quebec and even on very cold days I wear an under armour turtleneck and light sweater underneath and this jacket is really warm. It has all the important features that I like in a jacket: wrist gaiters, removable powder skirt, removable hood and plenty of pockets. I was worried about the colour since yellow gets dirty pretty quickly but I just followed the washing instructions on the label and even rail stains came out and the jacket came out minty fresh looking. Great price, Great service and Great product. Love Oakley and Backcountry.
