Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet
January 16, 2009
No, but if you don't want the brim then get the Smith Variant. The brimless edition.I like the brim because it works like a cycle helmet or a baseball cap. I bright sun, you can tip your head and the brim blocks against the glare. In rain, sleet, and near snow makers, it helps keep the stuff off the goggles.

Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet
January 16, 2009
I just got my Variant Brim and I use Smith OTG goggles like you. Since both are made by Smith, the helmet has vents under the brim aligned with the vents in my goggles. For me this was a selling point. My glasses still fog inside my goggles. Mostly, this happens when it's real cold, I'm overheated, and standing in lift lines. Otherwise, when I'm moving the glasses in goggles don't fog at all. This happenedd to me even without the helmet so judge for yourself. I'm thinking of treating my glasses to keep them from fogging.

Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet
January 16, 2009
You can't put your goggles on your forehead with the visor...sort of a pain.Putting your goggles on your forhead above the brim lets them slide off the back. There is nothing to hold them on above the brim. I put my goggles on the front edge of the brim. I wouldn't ski like that and I don't know how that looks, lol, but my Smith goggles stay put there. The only drawback is that it stretches the band way out. I keep my goggles a little more loose to compensate.

Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet
January 16, 2009
I just purchased a "Skullcandy Twin Tip Link" for my Variant Brim. Smith makes at least 2 different style ear pieces. You have to order the ones that indicate they fit the Variant. One other thing to mention is that if you get the Twin like mine, the "cell phone tip" didn't fit my Blackberry because the plug was 2.5mm and my BB uses a 3.5mm standard headphone size jack. Not a real issue because I picked up an adapter from Verizon for ~$5. It now works as claimed. Google my quote and you will find it. Just make sure it says it fits the Variant.

Giro Prima Helmet - Women's
January 16, 2009
Yes, this is compatible with Giros Tuneups, 100%.Although the Prima is compatible, the Tuneups "upgrade" to the ear flaps are not as "plush" as your original Prima ear flaps. At least to the extent that I'm aware (perhaps there are other Tuneups models?). My wife had the Tuneups upgrade in her hands and didn't go for it because she has the Black Gems version helmet, which has a decorative design on the ear flaps and plush "fur" lining, and the Tuneups are plain black without plush "fur".
