MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 7, 2012

Take some advise from someone who just turned 66 and doesn't own a car. When you are young, you are more interested in looks than comfort--forget it! After a lifetime of wearing narrow shoes, in your mature years, you will, by necessity, be more interested in comfort and the Keen shoes with wide toe boxes are essential. Avoid future problems and use wider shoes--you won't regret it! Keens are probably the most (only) comfotable shoes I have found for my wide feet. Do yourself a favor and buy them.

Platypus Platy SoftBottle

February 7, 2012

Yes--just don't fill it to the top so that it won't expand when it freezes. These bottles are good for hot drinks also and what I love the most is that they don't absorb the taste of what you are pouring in them.

BEST WATER BOTTLE WITH A MYRIAD OF USES

Platypus Platy SoftBottle

Platypus Platy SoftBottle

Rating for this product: 5 February 7, 2012

In my opinion, Platypus Softbottles are essential. I use them when I travel to Mexico every summer and take several to give to my friends. I have three in my office refrigerator and I always keep one filled with water on my night stand. Those sold for the purpose of keeping wine fresh are essential. I have every size imaginable. I especially appreciate that you can roll them up when they are empty. Great if you are ecologically minded and disdain throw-away plastic bottles. Get several--you won't regret it! When flying, unroll your Platypus and fill it with water when the TSA personnel allow you through the line.

Perfect Travel Tote

Patagonia Lightweight Travel Tote - 1350 cu in

Patagonia Lightweight Travel Tote - 1350 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2009

Last year, I purchased two of these Patagonia totes and yesterday, I ordered my third! I travel to Oaxaca, Mexico twice a year and detest how airlines take advantage of travelers by charging for what they consider excess baggage. With these totes, which fold into almost nothing, you can circumvent airline greed and actually pay for your totes by avoiding excess baggage charges by taking out one of your totes and stuffing it with heavy gear you can carry on. The airlines are shocked when I reduce the weight of the checked bags by using the Patagonia Travel Tote. In Oaxaca, I always carry one in my daypack and when I go to the market or bakery on my Downtube Folding Bike, which I also take with me, I take out my Tote, fill it up, and use it as a backpack. In my opinion, this is the perfect tote and I always have one handy at the university where I work. Get one--this is an item you simply can't do without.
