Mountain Hardwear Synchro Softshell Jacket - Men's

October 20, 2009

How wind proof is this? It seems with the laminate it would be. Could I wear this under a casual jacket or would it be too bulky?

Mountain Hardwear Transition Super Power Softshell Jacket - Men's

October 20, 2009

I'm looking for something to wear under my casual jacket when I bike to campus, so this seems good for that, but is it going to keep me warm if I'm just walking around campus and there is wind at my back? Is there a better product for this? I'm really just looking for a full zip jacket that blocks wind very very well that can be put under a jacket. It would preferably be an athletic cut (I'm 6 ft. 170 lbs.)

Does this or the Lukla Touque go down farther on your head? I've got a head on the larger side and need to get the bigger of the two to make sure it covers enough.

Good, but small

Mountain Hardwear Defender Backpack - 1700cu in

Mountain Hardwear Defender Backpack - 1700cu in

Rating for this product: 4 February 27, 2009

I like this backpack. It's definitely made for taking your laptop and maybe two textbooks and a notebook (if you squeeze them) and nothing else. I've had it out in light rain and no water gets in, but I haven't gotten drenched with it on yet. Overall it's good; I like the two buckles coming around the front. They keep it in place when biking around. The mesh pockets on the outside are nice. I'm not sure if the pocket for your iPod is waterproof if you have the headphone wires coming out or not though.
