Nice jacket, large hood

Outdoor Research Refuge Down Jacket - Women's

Outdoor Research Refuge Down Jacket - Women's

This is truly a very nice jacket, but I had to return it because the hood was so ridiculously big. With the hood down, the fastening tabs were way out over my shoulders and it just looked pretty dorky. Since I'm not a snowboarder, I really have no need for such an oversized hood. Perhaps they could come out with a version of this jacket with a normal-sized hood for those of us who would just like to use the jacket to keep us warm for walking the dog, running errands, etc., in the cold. I exchanged it for the Mountain Hardwear Sub-Zero Parka, and I am very pleased with that!

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

If you look closely there is a tiny, tonal colored, embroidered nut under the left sleeve on the main body of the jacket.Mine has a prominent Mountain Hardwear logo emblazoned on the left front chest of the jacket, and a smaller logo (without the words) at the center back, just under the collar. That one, however, is only visible if you're wearing the hood or have it zipped off. I have the Rhododendron color.

Very snuggly!

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

Just received this jacket yesterday and tested it out this morning - it's Inauguration Day here in Washington and you can probably tell from all the video how cold it is. I took the dog for a long walk in it this morning - wind chill around 12 degrees, and it kept me very toasty. If only I could have had my whole body wrapped in it! I bought an Extra Small - I'm about 5' 4", 119 lbs., and it fits great. However, if you have broad hips, the Extra Small might not work for you because the bottom of the jacket is right around the broadest part of your hips. Definitely worth every penny - the Rhododendron color is gorgeous, and the service was phenomenal. Thanks, Backcountry!
