Is the size true to size or need to size up?Different people at various online Q&A are stating one thing or another.I wear Mens size 11 1/2 which would mean Lge but some people state XL.Which is correct? Don't want it TOO roomy or else it won't fit properly! Thanks!

The North Face Pamir Windstopper Glove
January 23, 2009
Live in the Boston area where it's very windy and very cold in the winter. These gloves are terrific as they block out the winds even when temps drop below freezing! But once the temp goes down to the teens to near zero Celsius, the warmth is diminished. For the most part, these gloves will keep you warm.Mind you... the gloves are not waterproof so when it gets wet (i.e. slush conditions), the wind effectiveness is reduced.Remember to keep the gloves DRY and Clean! It's really pricey but worth it (for a TNF product). IMHO, the only competitor would be Marmot's Windstopper gloves (which I also own) which is a bit snugger than these for relatively the same price but similar quality!

The North Face Nuptse Down Jacket - Men's
January 7, 2009
I own a large nuptuse north face that is a 2006 and when I take out the inside layer of my small 2003 Columbia 3-in-1 ski jacket, the northface zips in perfectly, I was dumbfounded when I first discovered this cross brand union and it works amazingly for skiing when you need that extra layer of warmth, it does make me look a little on the chunky side, but ill sacrifice looks for warmth if I'm frozen. The choice is all yours. Any brand shell jacket will work but get at least the same size or up 1 or 2 sizes for the shell. If you want to use the zip in feature, then consider the TNF shells like the Mt. Light jacket.

Per the factory's tech's specs, Recommended Use: Camping, casual, keeping warm in cold weather.Down jackets are NOT meant for skiing as you'll heat up quickly!! It's best to layer using fleece and a shell for skiing!

Each manufacturer changes the colors every season, whether to make the colors bright or duller, depending on how they think the style should be.This year, 2008-2009, the colors are more "muted" (i.e. dull) than bright, as it was in previous year's models.

Patagonia Micro Puff Hooded Jacket - Men's

You'll need to check the measurements in the sizing chart.Generally, someone who's 6ft and of "average" build would fit a large and XL for a bit more room. There are "tall" sizes when it comes to Patagonia outerwear!

Patagonia Micro Puff Hooded Jacket - Men's
January 7, 2009
It's true to size so do NOT size UP unless you like it roomy. It's slightly roomier around the waist to chest but that's expected since most people wear a sweater or jacket underneath for insulation. It really depends if the person likes a bulky fit or a slim fit. Best thing to do is try it on at a nearby store, if available.

Patagonia Storm Jacket - Men's
January 7, 2009
That kind of depends on what you are looking for in a jacket -The most waterproof material will be Goretex or eVent, along with the most breatheable. As far as do you want the lightest? There is goretex paclite that will get you a super light jacket under 1 lbs. Then there are heavier jackets that are thicker/stronger and will be goretex or eVent meant for more use than just keeping you dry. Look at Arcteryx Alpha AR, Westcomb Mirage, Arcteryx Alpha SL to see a few differences. My favorite choice is eVent and Westcombs jackets are amazing. Most people would say "TNF mt. light jacket" but it's more trendy than technical now! The Storm jacket is still a waterproof jacket that can take the abuse of skiing and outdoor winter activities while looking great from around-town use.

I have this jacket and it is TNF fleece zip in compat. Just make sure zip in is same size as the shell. I use a Denali vest perfectly and if I need more warmth I have a Mountain Hardwear Link jacket, but doesn't zip in. I didn't want the 300 wt fleece sleeves for bulk reasons, but if you want warmth.... that would do it!Just look for the TNF brands that have the zip-in feature. You can zip in the Denali jacket/vest and the Nuptse jacket/vest. It's true to size so use either the same or smaller size for the zip-in.Also, you do not to zip in the underlying layer like a fleece jacket/vest but just wear it underneath the shell!

Only if the other jacket is an outer shell designed for such purposes. Look for a TNF shell that includes a zip-in feature.Otherwise, you'll find this to be too thick and bulky to serve as a liner. It's not its designed purpose!

Depends on your winter. It's probably good down to about freezing temps ~30-35 degrees F.But it won't stop the wind, though! Must wear a shell or jacket to keep warm!
