Decent ski jacket

The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket - Women's

The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2009

Overall I like this jacket. It has all the bells and whistles necessary for a good ski jacket: windproof, waterproof, sealed seams and vents to keep the cold out, lots of pockets, elasticized powder skirt, etc. The insulation isn't bulky (like a down jacket) but it does its job. It kept me warm while skiing on a 35-40 degree day with light winds, though by the afternoon I did have to open the pit zips to cool off, but I stayed dry inside. The textured fabric is an added interest and it makes it different from your run-of-the mill ski jacket. My only two dislikes are the crackly fabric that makes noise every time you move (don't try to sneak up on anyone! LOL) ...and the rather boxy shape with no waist definition. I'd love to have seen some kind of waist drawcord or elastic in the back to make it a bit more feminine. I'm a very average size Medium and I felt this size Medium is slightly big with just a baselayer underneath, however if you want to layer additional shirts there is room.

The North Face Greenland Jacket - Women's

January 11, 2009

I've seen it in person, and its more of of a TEXTURE really. Its subtle and only noticeable if you're, say, within 5 feet of the jacket. Otherwise from afar it just looks like solid blue jacket. Hope this helps!

The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket - Women's

January 9, 2009

I'm answering my own question since I went ahead and bought the jacket anyway :-)Yes, the inside of the collar is lined in a soft peachy fleece so its comfortable next to your chin. However when zipped all the way up the collar is REALLY tall (up to your nose!).

The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket - Women's

January 4, 2009

What is the lining inside the collar (next to your neck)? Is it the same taffeta as the rest of the jacket, or is it a nice soft fleece?
